Lexus engineers are wacked to have designed the rear spark plugs to have a crazy location. I will have to through this process for my RX450h. Thank you for the helpful video!

These engineers don’t care about repairing the vehicles. If they did. A lot of this stuff wouldn’t be so complicated. They do it to keep use from repairing our own vehicles. I hope everything worked out. I appreciate the kind words and feedback 👍

Wow very extensive work. I'm going on hybrid next time either all gas or all electric.

I agree. I understand the switch. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you 👍

This is a hybrid. Doesn’t make it easier to change plugs.

How long did it take to do this? Looks like it would take ME at least 6 hours.

Just done the 2016 version . Got at the egr cooler bracket bolt from below ................... jeees ., dismantling half the car to change plugs . What a design cock up ! they just dont care do they .

Absolutely. Engineering does not think of repairs or even cost with their designs.

Hi Great video! Have you made a video on the same job for the later model RX450H? I have a 2018 and would love to see a video of the spark plug replacement so i can do it myself instead of taking it to the dealer!
@HowIFixedIt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. I unfortunately have no video available for that year. It’s more than likely the same process. Remove intake and anything in the way of removing the spark plugs and coils. I’ll post one if I ever do. Thank you again.

Hi, do you have have to power-down/unplug the Hybrid battery?
@HowIFixedIt4 ай бұрын
No, I did not touch the battery. I know it’s possible. I just don’t. It’s very dangerous to mess with hybrid batteries. Could start a massive fire or explosion. I would not touch hybrid batteries! Good luck 👍

What's the ball park figure you charge for that spark plug replacement?
@HowIFixedIt Жыл бұрын
I would only charge for the labor. 150 an hour. Takes about 3 hours to complete. I’m a master mechanic. So I’ve created this channel to save people money. I know it’s expensive to take to a professional. If you did the job it would only cost the spark plugs. Which are around 8-10 a piece for some good ones. Iridium plugs. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
@IndianaBrad Жыл бұрын
@@HowIFixedItTypically, I would do my own plugs but seeing all that stuff being need to be removed makes me just want to have them done by a professional. The only part that sucks though is all the effort it would take just to simply check them. Anyways, thanks for the video and the reply.

For any Lexus SUV, e.g., RX450 and RX450h, it would cost around $1000 now -- just the spark plugs replacement alone. I had a 2007 RX350 and it cost $750 + replacing the three new coils for the rear spark plugs as as well, totaled up to near $1000 BEFORE. That was done in 2019 BEFORE the inflation hit! For dealers, it probably around $1500-$2000.

I agree, they put way to much on top of the engine. What even happened to spark plugs taking half an hour to do… SMH. Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it 👍
