I could never understand this. Howard was working for Cal Tech. If he needed a 3D printer, surely the university would pay for it! OK, he would have to put in an application for it, and there would be some delay while it went through the system, but it's an entirely reasonable thing for him to have for his work, and represents a tiny fraction of Cal Tech's annual budget, or even his departmental budget.

The funny thing is the 3D ones had skin that was too dark for either Bernie or Howard! The dolls they ordered in the mail, Rajes didn't look anything like him but Howard's was quite uncanny! I'd love a doll of myself and my cat that would be so cute, might have to look into that, bet it would be expensive though 😢

Howard is an Idiot, He could have told Bernadette that it was an investment. Print out half a dozen dolls of him in a variety of Super Hero Poses and wearing Batman’s outfit and Superman’s as well as ALL the major Comic book heroes (DC & Marvel) do the same for Raj and Lenard and Sheldon. THEN bring all the dolls with them to the next Comic-Con and show them off to all the other “Nerds” and tell them they can make them dolls of them in any Super Hero/Super Villain for 200$ each The 3D printer cost 5k So make 25 dolls at 200$ each and the machine has paid for itself. They could also display the dolls at Stewart’s Comic Book shop and Charge 225$ each (Give Stewart 25$ per doll sold) since they are using his display case to display their products And likely in less than 2-3 months they would be turning a profit.

However people dress up as Marvel/DC characters all the time for "Halloween/Costume Parties/Children's Birthday Parties" and frequently not from "Official DC/Marvel" costumes sold in stores, so while DC & Marvel *WOULD HAVE* a legitimate Copyright Infringement case, this would be such a small potatoes case I doubt they would even take the time to go after them, the worst likely scenario would be that they would receive a "Cease and Desist" letter, at which point they would simply stop offering their Dolls. That is what happens in most of these cases. But by then they likely would have made back their 5k and then some.
