This is fantastic. As someone 4'11" with petite hands I wish I had done more homework before buying my current low d. It really is tougher for those with smaller digits. Love all the options coming down the line (I'm a lefty) including possibly closer top hole as well.

I have small fingers, my hand is not very big, I did not know these Low whistles and I learned to play with an OPTIMA in D, and although it cost me a lot of work, there is nothing more satisfying than learning with effort, testing your limits and knowing that yes things can be done, I don't regret having bought a normal Low whistle

They're always helpful, no mistake there. As with any instrument, PRACTICE is how one makes the difficult, easy. Very nice looking flutes, and I've no doubt, this will be exactly what those who are a bit phalangically challenged in the length department will need, to tip them over the edge, and into the low bass-style whistles.

Stephanie, Thanks for this show. I never thought about buying a low whistle with a key because I always thought it would make a noise.

Thanks for another excellent review. I found the key useful as my right ring finger is partially numb. At this stage of my low d whistle journey I am not attempting slides and ornamentation. I find that as a beginner it is probably the easiest of my collection to play though I’m partial to my Carbony Close Hole Spacing and my Nick Metcalfe Standard low D which has the holes slightly offset. I’d love to see you review some of Nick’s whistles.

Would you consider a show about your current collection of whistles? It could even be a pretty video with you playing a track from a previous show. I'm sure it is a beautiful sight. As Always Love your show.

Oh yeah, I saw these on their site the other week when I ordered a Low C to go with my Howard Low D whistle. I personally don't need a key for this size a whistle, but it would probably be nice on my Shearwater Bass Bb 😂

It looks very nice, but... if you put the key, then wouldn't you have to press down when you would lift up on every other whistle? I imagine that could play havoc on muscle memory and learning. It also looks like the key handicaps a lot of slide, Eb, vibrato and other functions that whistles kinda depend on. Unless I am misunderstanding the function?
@CutiepieTinWhistle3 ай бұрын
No, you press down when you want to play D, and life up when you want to play E (etc) - just like on a regular whistle.

Hello, I let this comment on your last video, hopping that you will answer me. I'm french and I just started to play tin whistle but I can't go to the next octave. I really try but the sounds are strange or the sound will just be louder but same as if I blow softly. Could you please help me because I can't play a lot of musics with just the normal notes. By the way your video are awesome and a real help.
