The Tube was such an important milestone in television. Great performance! Good to see Jools joining him on Bounce Right Back.

Equipment on stage 2 Roland Jupiter 8s on one stand. A Yamaha DX-7 above a Sequential Circuits T-8. Behind that stand a EMU Drumulator and a Simmons SDS-5 drum module and a Roland TR-808. The other stand has a Moog Prodigy on top of a Yamaha Cp-70 Electric grand piano. The Roland TR-808 is used to trigger bass notes from one of the synthesizers.The Roland Jupiter 8s can have 2 sounds split on the keyboard. Howard sometimes had issues with this rig not synching correctly. This is a great find for early live Howard jones. This is not a lip-synch or mimed performance as was the case with most t.v. shows at the time

Nice rundown on his gear. Thanks!
@jeffcappelletti19863 жыл бұрын
Most of the gear was easy to spot. The Drumulator and SDS 5 were very hard to spot. Not many shots of that stand in the video

JP8 on top, Juno 60 under it. 2 Moogs under that

I think having that kind of gear is a for most of us a dream. Yes oke modern synthesizers can do a lot what those vitage can't but those vintage synthesizers has something that makes them unplaceable.

Superb artwork behind him by Steg Read. And featuring the adorable Jed Hoile of course! X X

Chatted to Steg many times when he ran Scorpion Records in High Wycombe. This was around the time Howard Jones was starting to play gigs in local pubs and Steg sold tickets for him. Met Jed a couple of times too. A very interesting man to chat to. A lot of thought went into his act.

I'm sure there was more tracks than this, Human's Lib (with Jools on piano) and NewSong were on it
@ScottishTeeVee11 ай бұрын
There may have been, but at the time of first broadcast, this is all they showed. The Tube occasionally let bands continue playing and then broadcast the extra tracks in future episodes

Warning us of the sell out of society. Early warnings. Many of these great bands in their teens and 20s warned us of impending doom. Listen to The Clash and this genre of 70s and 80s warned us. Look where we are now.

The rap at 10:55? I should imagine he did that because he was inspired by rap to do a rap. I am of course guessing, as I don't know the man, but I can't think of another reason he might do that. ;-)
