His voice still holds up. If you dig him, definitely check out the clips from Live at Daryl's House. He does a great rendition of this with Daryl Hall, along with seven or eight other songs from Howard and Daryl's catalogue. It really is a fantastic pairing of voices and Daryl's backing band is awesome.
