You have to care about a person to enable them. And in hindsight, none of em ever truly cared about Artie IMO. They just all knew he was great material for the show. What they are doing here is towing the "company" line with him. Artie didnt care if some backroom nobody like Jason or Sal brought up his addiction. He would've cared if any of the top guys did though which is why the Gary fights were always the most real. Once Gary started going into Artie's addictions, things turned real sour with their relationship. But Artie would've either fell in a much bigger depression or left the show altogether if it was someone whose opinion he cared about. And if you get rid of Artie at the height of his addiction, the show loses as many viewers in 2007 or 2008 as they did when he finally left at the end of 09. That would've looked a lot worse for Stern a year or two into his Sirius run

Artie was literally begging to go to rehab. Pretty sad.
@ellan.12410 ай бұрын
lol no he wasn't. His sister tried to get him to go, but he only relented and went to a wellness spa that he checked out of. He wanted to be fired so leaving the show wasn't his fault, and he could be bitter about it and not blame himself. You can't make someone go to rehab. They literally told him over and over again that he should go to rehab, and they would welcome him back.

That first story of Artie being late during a break and it’s because he was light headed and almost passed out? That is pure BS. When Artie (like most people) tell the truth they are a lot more to the point. When you’re lying you add in so many little extra details that really aren’t relevant to the story. Also… The reason why Artie had to go get his own lunch is because he can smoke on the way.

Gary was one of the biggest snakes when it came to Artie in my opinion. Idk why anyone thinks he was a good friend in any way. He would totally pile on knowing the dude was a struggling junkie.

You know Artie instantly regretted that "almost passed out" lie, because it snowballed immediately. Chris Kanyon also ended up committing suicide a few months after Artie's attempt in 2010.

Gary and Howard were in full out denial..but even if they gave Artie a year off from the show for rehab, Artie would’ve never changed. He would’ve just left the show and went back in the road. Nothing would’ve changed. Artie didn’t finally get clean over a decade after this clip.
