I met him at a hotel where I worked in college. The minute he hit the door, he was a ball of energy. I was on the phone and he came by screaming in his way "Helllllo! Hello hotel person!!!" The person I was talking to asked me as a joke if Richard Simmons was with me. Ha! He was fantastic!

I’ve been a Stern fan since the 80s. Some of Richard’s visits were some of the best media I ever heard period whether tv, radio, film, or print. Seriously. I’m ashamed to admit some of the best visits were when Howard poked fun at Richard, even driving him to tears, but I’m proud to also say it was heartwarming for him to come back to the show and having Howard and Richard find a middle ground where they could be their better selves. Thanks so much to Richard for being such a great guest, friend to the show, and such a great help to so many people.
