Outstanding. Thank you so very much for posting this. I miss Zinn so much, but at least we still have talks like this and his books and works.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Mr. Zinn. My only wish is that there where more Americans that followed his succinct and revealing historical literature. I would have loved to have seen him in person, yet I am glad that You Tube has so much of his video appearances. We must organize if we ever hope to abolish this Colonialist war mongering autocracy cloaked within the guise of democracy and justice.

One of the worlds great historians who would have been much better known had his views not been so much at odds with the ruling elites.

Dude, I absolutle agree. The only thing that bugged me, when he said that its a "no-no situation" to say, that Poland should be given up to Germany. He said it, as if rest of the Europe actually did something, when Hitler invaded Poland, which in fact they just sat on their asses.

An example of what you are saying was the agreement the British had with the Polish Fighter pilots. They were sort of betrayed when Poland was turned over to the Russian's.

True, but if you listened carefully he said 'no - not appeasement, but resistance, guerilla warfare, sabotage, internal dissent.' Yes, this is difficult (especially at the beginning), but the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto rose up twice during the Nazi occupation of Poland. The Italians rose up and hung Mussolini (communist partisans captured him) by meat hooks in the city of Milan where his corpse was mutilated by angry citizens. Resistance is possible, difficult, but possible (takes longer to)

I miss Howard's wisdom. Who can fill his shoes? Please, if you're out there, let's get back to the radical notion of a widely spread-out, decentralized society of peaceful citizens, aligned by our own agreements with each other and not enslaved by predatory, greedy warmongers.

Strictly speaking the governor general in the stead (place) of the Queen is the head of state. Fine point I suppose but queen Liz has no power whatsoever in Canada. The "old " constirution which was a collection of Acts such as the BNA Act was superceded by the "Repatriated" constitution in Trudeau times.

“In the end” ignores the fact that Stalin split Poland in 1939. This war was avoidable but international finance had different ideas

@7:40 Zinn says his intent for doing history is "not to give you an accurate picture of the past" He is an activist. Not a scholar He thinks he is 'edgy' for pointing out that there isn't critical thinking involved in an 8th grade history class.

I doubt that being a World War II veteran gives Zinn a pass for saying the Nazis should have won. His arguments against World War II are lame. If Zinn is against the Civil War, then he shouldn't have praised the abolitionists, as there wouldn't have been a war without antislavery activism.
@wyattbottorff24739 жыл бұрын
MrAcarine That is a joke. Slavery, nor antislavery, started the civil war. A scapegoat is all it was. Just another tool to lead the masses.

Humanity is at a threshold to implore within, not without. We can't justify outcomes with means. How many roads must a man walk down before they call him a man? As painful as Japanese and Germans initiated and inflicted pain on innocent Chinese and Jewish victims, the only effect violence begets is violence. Unless we realize there are no distinctions among races, genders, religions, geography and idealism but just Human's natures, help or hurtful, and teach our next generations about it, the 20th century atrocities will repeat itself. There may be changing of guards, but if we don't start at ourselves and our next generations, what Gandhi/Mandela shown would just be shrugged off as incidental, not essential. Use modern physicist term, unless we raise our vibrations and frequencies, we are just similar to the warlords. I can't wait till we are identified as HM40.7127° N, 74.0059° W 102020151448 (Human Male date time) instead of the egoic ID starting from a religious name, a race last name, a race, a country. There are just too many boxes to cover up and identify our false self with. Unless we implode psychologically, honest with ourselves and destroy the ego, humanity will not realize the brilliance of wisdom within us where hearts and minds merge. Peace, not anti-war.
