For those running CS6 and having trouble spherizing the texture, I figured it out by playing around a bit. First Control or Command click the Ellipse thumbnail as he suggests. THEN click on your planet texture layer before selecting filters/spherize. Yeah, I was having trouble trying to follow along with the same settings until I got here and realized through the threads that he's using CS5. Good stuff so far!

There is an easyer way to make stars. if you would like to try it it goes like this: filter >> noise >> add noise and then set the amount to - 400 \ gaussian \ monochromatic the add a gaussian blur at radius of 1.0 then open the Levels Window by pressing Ctrl + L set the black to location of 205 and the white to location of 211 i learned that for BlueLightningTV and i think it is tn easyer way to make stars.

@shreder94 Try starting the brush from scratch. Select the Brush Tool, choose a standard soft brush, then adjust the settings in the Brush Panel. You might be stuck on a custom brush already.

@TutorialSolution987 Did you make sure to turn the planet into a selection? Are you adding that spot on a new layer? Is that new layer under the texture layer?
@TheFerrarifan1812 жыл бұрын
By far the best tutorial I have ever seen! I have learned sooo much from this. You kept it simple, you explained everything and didn't assume that we already knew how to do something. And you didn't sound rushed! Very nice job!!!

@sportyio3 It might be, but I'm a big fan of using custom brushes.

The great thing about your tutorials is that I can apply elements of it to other completely different projects. For example, I now would think to use spherize on circles to give it some depth

@shreder94 Check to make sure your brush is 0% hardness. If that still doesn't work, try it without modifying the Flow Jitter. You'll probably get similar results.

IceFlowStudios, a Lens Flare would look better than just a white colored brush spot(in my opinion). It has its own light streaks coming out of it. It really looks like a star about to round the edge of a planet.

I've been subscribed to you for such a long time and i've gotten really good at Photoshop thanks to you to the point that i hate it when you upload icon tutorials because they're so easy. Great tutorial! I'm a big fan of your videos! For a future little idea I know I would like to see a video or article about the different blend modes (color dodge, linear burn, lighten, etc) I've never truly understood what all of them mean or do specifically, just played with them and see what looks good.

Just search for textures on Google Images. You can use a lot of textures to make a planet surface. Rusty metal textures, rock/granite textures. Any texture that looks rough and rugged.

awesome, but would love it if there was a "slower" version of this lesson. Fun to go along and try to do it myself but had to stop /start too many times and some steps were either assumed or left out. You are very talented Mr Pinsky! Maybe this is not for beginners, but I almost had it! Thank you for sharing!

I usually start drawing on a large canvas, and when I'm finished, I change the image size smaller. That way, shapes and objects become more clear, and that little line that just doesn't look right looks... Well, corrected. I do digital painting in Photoshop, I'm not sure if you do painting too or photomanipulation. But I hope that helps. :)

When you have a document created, click "U" on the keyboard, the cursor will turn into a cross. Then find the icon with an indented background towards the bottom of your left tool bar. If the icon looks like an oval shape, you are good to go. If the icon is a square or something else instead, click and hold for additional menu items to show, then choose "Ellipse Tool". To draw a perfect circle, hold down "shift" while you drag the cross cursor across the canvas.
