Interesting. I've never seen this version of the dance before. I love it when a huge group of people gets up to dance this and they all do different version It makes for great hilarity and fun as everyone tries to compensate and dance around each other. ^_^ I learned it: Right: Stomp, point Both: Shuffle, two, three Left: Stomp, point Both: Shuffle, two, three Right: Point toe, kick your hip with your heel Left: Point toe, kick your hip with your heel Both: Shuffle for an eight count I love the different variations. Awesome.

I learned a box dance. Two kicks right foot, two kicks left, then one each R L R L. Push off with grounded foot, Four steps forward, four steps back. Four steps left, four steps right. Pick a direction for everyone to turn a quarter turn. Repeat. Lots of fun, looks cool when done in tempo, and a GREAT cardio exercise!!! If anyone tries it, let me know! :)

It's awesome with 2 couples. The couples actually rotate back of other couple (shuffle step) each couple takes time being in front. I use to do this as a clogging routine. Fun!!!

Different regions do dances differently, but where I am from it is NOT 4 shuffles (=8 counts) but rather 8 shuffles (=16 counts) between stomp patterns. (10 step has only 4 shuffles between patterns.)

I'm an East Coast Swing & Lindy Hop dancer & we used to do this at dances all the time! We did the variation with the crossover, but didn't touch our toe down (lead with the heel more). During the shuffle we would do almost form a whip where the person on the inside end of the line barely moved & the person on the outside was hauling ass. God, it was so much fun!

Where I live, we kick out with one foot, then the other and repeat I can't remember how many times, then we start jumping while spinning and making lasso motions with our arms. Then when we're done, we'll be facing a different direction and start again. A friend told me was at a convention of some sort and everyone but the people from our state were doing the version you described.

(1)There are many different variations of a dance. I live in southern California and we do it a bit different. We start out tapping the back of our right foot twice in front of us. Then tapping the toes of our right foot twice behind us. Then do the same with the left foot. Then you do the same thing but you only tap your feet once with all the moves the next time around. Then after that you skip to the right three times and on the fourth time you spin and do a lasso with your arm and then clap.

We hop on our left foot with the right out front, touching the heel to the ground then switch it to the back with the toes on the ground, then cross it behind the left leg and slap, turn it away from the left and slap again then turn and start over.

No one is asking that everyone accept other people's way of doing things; but there is no need to be disrespectful and definitely no need to be mean. cade and makedonec are just showing their lack of intelligence by ranting about nothing. intelligent and secure people don't have a need to talk that way

"America's Music" is actually Blues and Jazz, as those are the only styles that actually originated in America. Country music originated in the UK as folk ballads that were brought to the US with immigrants who settled throughout the American south. Like other musical styles it has evolved over time and in its current incarnation it is quite different. American country music is really the "top 40" equivalent of folk ballads from days long past.

After watching a bunch of vids, I dont believe there are only two variations of this dance. Where I'm from, we put our right foot out and tap the heel twice, then put it back and tap your toes twice. Then swing your right leg up and across to the front and touch with your left hand, then swing up and across except to the back this time and touch with left hand. Then shuffle to the right and finally spin back to the left. Do it again except with left leg and right hand, and repeat alternating.

Then you repeat all the steps starting with your right foot again. But then before you skip you make a quarter turn then skip. Then you repeat everything and do another quarter turn so as you dance you are going all around the room in a lot of different directions. I don't know if anyone else knows this way
