Once position is estabilished with heel hooks you need to move about 2 cm to start causing damage. The injury risk is very high unless both partners are trained specifically

People tap to this sub before they feel pain due to the fact that they know how painful it actually is and the damage that can be inficted, making it the most useful sub ever.
@DB-xz1sb
@DB-xz1sb 5 жыл бұрын
well I would not call it the most useful, but rather the most powerful. I would rank the RNC as the most useful, as it is easier to learn and apply (more or less, but anyone understands what happens when you get chocked). Also, yah, you need to tap to it before you feel the pain, usually if you feel pain when heel hooked, the damage has already been done. So they say, I always tap before the opponent has a chance to crank it etc.
@Rob_Kankerboef
@Rob_Kankerboef 5 жыл бұрын
Its important to tap before you feel real pain with a heel hook. The moment you start to feel pain is the moment you got your leg torn up

I actually got this lock on an upper belt today, not because I'm any good (2 months in, white belt, barely know anything) but because they simply weren't expecting it from, well, a white belt lol. We had just practiced it a week prior, and I remember them saying it's super dangerous, there won't be pain, just pressure, then bam, torn ligaments... so when I got my elbow around the heel I just stopped immediately, didn't twist at all. Partner went wide eyed, literally asked "is that a heel hook?" "Yes" *long pause* ...."thank you for stopping early" and we just laughed, shook hands and reset lol.

Ok, what I don't understand is how is the heel being hurt? Are you supposed to be turning in an opposite direction or something? Or is the knee or leg what's actually being hurt and not the heel? I may sound crazy but I don't see anything you are doing to the heel itself.
