Most people see way too little break and often putt along the expected path (aiming more towards the apex) instead of the proper start line which is often significantly above the apex. This is why so many putts finish on the low side. Interestingly, you said you were aiming one cup outside but if you look at your start line you were probably 3-4 cups outside the hole and still finished low. Hard to start the putt on the proper start line which is why most people miss on the low side. Always aim above the apex. How much above the apex depends on the expected break.

From my experience, one cup out from 10 ft is extremely flat. This confirms it 😂
