what good schools that can they train someone to be a wind turbine tech?
@theturbinecowboy79713 жыл бұрын
Many technicians I work with who have gone to school say they attended a community college course and it was much more affordable for them then attending a wind trade school. However in my next video I will go more in depth on education and getting in the field.

I have a few questions, im do interested in joining. Im from Hesperia ca and I been looking at videos of this job all day long lol Do you guys work weekend ? Or what’s the schedule like ? How many hours can you work per week ?
@theturbinecowboy79712 жыл бұрын
Hours Vary on the position and location you take. Some weeks as a travel tech you can expect to work as many as 80 hours and some weeks you might struggle to achieve mid 30's. It does balance out somewhere in the middle and you will likely make more money than you would otherwise. Weekends are part of the gig regardless of being at one site or traveling. Traveling usually gets Sundays off and Site positions will have a rotating "on-Call" schedule that might end up with you going in both Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for the question!

How dangerous is the job and how much is the average yearly salary for someone working in this field?
@theturbinecowboy79713 жыл бұрын
The wind industry like any other heavy equipment industry can be very dangerous even fatal. I don't want that to scare people though because honestly, it is ultimately your actions that determine how much danger you put yourself in. Every company I know of provides the tools and training you need to keep yourself out of harms way and working another day. It is also your responsibility to say no if you don't feel safe. As far as pay goes the industry has a lot of different pay levels from one company to the next or even from one wind farm to the next but on average you can expect to make between 35-50k in your first year. With training and qualifications that number can grown very rapidly. Awesome questions and I'll try to dive deeper into both of these topics in an upcoming video.

How much did your schooling cost?
@theturbinecowboy79713 жыл бұрын
I actually haven't gone to school for this industry. I've asked my colleagues who have gone to school and they told me you can expect to pay 20-25k for an associates degree. However as a note their experience was that much of the education they received was not relevant to actually being up tower. They learned more through OJT that was practical than attending school. This is what I want to share with people is that school isn't necessarily a prerequisite if you want to do what I do. Thank you for your question and I'll be trying to cover the topic of school more in depth in an upcoming video.
