Oh my goodness!! I swear you can turn your hand to anything artistic! An admission from me - I have never seen a Studio Ghibli film, not even a clip! That does not prevent me from appreciating the many many hours of intricate work you have put into this, it truly is stunning and I am sure will look amazing on your product line. I will sign off with my usual disclaimer that I have once again been unwell and couldn’t even bear to look at a screen, never mind enjoy. I’m pleased I waited until I felt better, as I took in every intricate mark you placed on paper. Thank you! 🎨🖌👩🎨😻 My cat Lily is still with me (she rallied!!), and I am enjoying each and every extra day I have with her. She and I send a pat (and treat) to the lovely Dino 🐶🦴

Hiiii Anita, 👋 thank you for your kind words! I always appreciate hearing your thoughts. And how interesting that you have not seen a Ghibli movie so far. They are truly magical and unique and at the same time critical of humans and how they treat the world. As they can be equally beautiful in their scenery and animation as they are heavy on the soul, I only watch them in moderation. I'm a bit of a softie when it comes to movies (even - or especially - children's movies) :D It's good to hear that Lily and you are enjoying October and I send best wishes and good health for the both of you! 🌻🌞

@@FrancisArtStudio You have piqued my interest now! However, I don't have a television as I got rid of mine 10 years ago and haven't looked back!! I watch KZbin (obviously), and I tap into my daughter's Netflix account 😁 and that's it. I pay each month to get rid of all advertising on KZbin which helps. So the question is, where do I find one and what would you recommend? 🤔😻🤷

@@anitadavidson1266 Oh wonderful! And how fortunate for you, the Ghibli films are all on Netflix! My favorite is definitely Howl's Moving Castle. A young hatmaker gets turned into an old woman by a curse and is taken in by a wizard in his magical, moving castle. It is enjoyable for adults as well as children, the world is colorful, whimsical (a bit crazy) and the critique of the world is more subtle and on the sideline. Another one in that area is Spirited Away and The Cat Returns. On the other, extremely heavy but fantastical side are Nausicaä and Princess Mononoke. I am very interested to hear if you come around to watch one and whether it is at all interesting to you :)

@@FrancisArtStudio I hope you are proud of me - I found and watched Howl’s Moving Castle. It was everything you said it would be and more. I shall work my way through the other suggestions you made whenever I am in the mood for a little adventure. Thank you for pointing the way. xx

Oh, lovely! I'm a big fan of the Studio Ghibli movies. If your schedule is not already fully packed, maybe you could do a Hunter x Hunter fanart some time (the manga will resume after an almost four year hiatus this month)... Oil pastels seem to be "your medium", the picture turned out great!

Thank you! As challenging as it was, I enjoyed every minute of it and am even more sure now that oil pastels and I are a great fit :D Oh, that's exciting to hear! I like the Hunter x Hunter anime a lot, but do not have the patience to keep up with the manga. Very happy for you that it continues!

You probably already realized this but that's a pitt pastel as in soft pastel. The ones that are oil based don't have the color at the end of the pencil and they don't say pitt pastel, they say Pitt Oil Base.
@FrancisArtStudio2 жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you, Loati! I ordered it through my local book/art store and they must've not known about the distinction either. They are pretty hard to come by, I still don't have one but would like to try them. Do you have any thoughts on them?
@loati942 жыл бұрын
@@FrancisArtStudio I have only tried the pitt pastel ones from Faber Castell but I have one oil base from Lyra and it is very creamy and mixes well with oil pastels. Since its harder than oil pastels it can scratch a bit if the layers are thick, but it deposits pigment well. I once was debating between a FC sanguine pitt pastel or oil base and I ended up picking pastel because I was thinking in terms of charcoal but I do wish I had picked the oil one haha

Ohhh noo the sanguine is even harder to come by than the black one 😅 if i ever see one again I'll definitely get it. For now I am trying two Derwent Lightfast and see how they'll work
