Howrah station is a combination of two zonal terminals i.e. South Eastern Railway & Eastern Railway, this is a reason it has more platforms up to 23.

Howrah is not terminal for SER It is a stn for Eastern railway Both ER and SER zonal head qrts are in Kolkata That is reason we have so many trains SER hairs platforms from Eastern railway and pays for it SER trains are maintained at santragachi In my childhood I was brought up in kharagpur I used to visit Kolkata and Howrah stn It is pronounced in Bengali as howada Howda is a separate city and Kolkata is separate both are joined by the famous Howrah bridge built by British Now SER has separate stn Shalimar which was once SER goods terminal. Nowadays this stn is being developed and all SER trains will start from Shalimar only in few more years

Definitely yes. Unfortunately trains going to eastern side of India...always better to travel in AC coaches both for ease of travel and escape from cold and heat 😄😄. But Naveen actually people in eastern side of India are lovely people Unfortunately they have not been hard wired for discipline like South and West India. But you yourself would have noticed they are actually very nice people and very helpful and harmless. But cleanliness in eastern India my god...I have experienced it myself 😔. Certain places it is changing there but will take time

Sleeper Class passengers Paying Rs 695/ for travelling from Chennai Central to Howrah having to face the ordeal of Overcrowding of Unreserved Passengers travelling in such Coaches is indeed a Nightmare and very sorry state of Affairs. That the RPF could not take much action against them is again a matter of concern. I feel more Unreserved coaches should be attached to such trains.
