My mother used to make corn starch pudding. Also, you can use cornstarch as a breading/coating on meat. And corn starch is used a thickener as opposed to flour because cornstarch has less of a tendency to leave you lovely little clumps of undisolved/incoprated thicker in your suaces and gravies.

10 months late, but this would not be worth it. Not only would it cost A LOT, considering that small of a pool they did, and they needed 150kg of cornstarch, I reckon that it would require at least a couple megagrams(kinda like how computer storage works, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, etc), and also, if they happen to sink in, it would be nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get out, causing them to either: A) Sink at die from all the pressure, or B) Cause them to suffocate

The more force you hit with oobleck, the harder it is to bypass it. That's why the bowling ball didn't sink. For people who *still* don't understand, let's say there's you, and a humongous crowd, if you sprint in the crowd, the more likely it is for you to stop. If you went slow, you could easily bybass it (same with oobleck, if you're slow, then you'll sink)

The most common use of cornstarch in cooking is as a thickener to make gravy. Near the end of cooking a dish, remove some of the sauce from the liquid that has come out of the sauteed meat and veggies. Put it in a small bowl and mix in a tablespoon or two of corn starch. Turn the heat off on the pan and add the thick cornstarch mixture into the liquid in the pot and it will turn into a nice, thick gravy. A 2 liter soda bottle with Dry Ice and water under oobleck, or just blocks of Dry Ice in ooblek. also a cast iron frying pan dropped on ooblek but it has to land flat on it. and a bunch of water baloons of ooblek then a large baloon full of ooblek and finally a weather baloon full of ooblek dropped onto a pool of ooblek but the baloons need to be different colors than the pool and diferent colors from the different sizes...

Btw, we call it a non Newtonian fluid in uk. Fascinating. If you want smooth gravy add a teaspoon of corn starch to your meat juices after roasting. But mix it to this state first or you'll never get the lumps out.
