Was about to spend $30 on a new tensioner pulley. But I used to change bearings for rollerblading in the 90's as a kid. I'm buying bearings for my engine pulleys, now. Thanks!

I used to clean my with solvent, dry them, then lubricate with the Lightspeed oil : ) I was in my mid-30s and played inline hockey 3 days a week on the blacktop right by the ocean.

Good looking out. I know i can just replace the bearing and i don't have to buy the whole dang thing, but if you try to find just the bearing... It's almost imposable. Thank you for letting me know about the # on the inside!

Did your car make a very low pitched squek, like if someone were running their hand over a baloon? My car does that after running for a while , but only when its parked but running , everyone says that my tensioner or pulley maybe damaged or the bearing may be damaged, or loose, and im wondering if i should just change the bearing.

I have one of those I paid for years ago to rent but never returned because I thought it would be handy again. That set is so useful and everyone working on vehicles need them.

Did they charge your credit card for the press? Seems like they would take your card number as a deposit.

I have a small press but this is a good idea too. Thanks.

Can you do this with a plastic grooved idler pulley?
@人車-h3t5 жыл бұрын
I just use a socket and hammer to do the job.

there is a spring inside the tensioner that also wears over time which can put less tension on the belt which will cause it to be loose right? im curious because im about to replace the pulley to billet and wasnt sure if i should get another tensioner too while i'm at it

Nice video. You think a regular deep C clamp with sockets might work just as well?
@michael9315 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but you could also use a vise.

In your experience, is there any risk to doing this same procedure to a timing/cam belt idler pulley?
@DTomlinsonpiano Жыл бұрын
Probably no risk. About the same procedure

Just a suggestion.....use a socket and a bench vise.....works alot easier!!!..:))) in canada a idler pulley new at Hohda cost one arm, 2 legs and your first born..plus the family pet....about 130.00 after taxes..the whole assembly is 140.00.............go figure!

what if your bearing exploded and finding the correct size isnt possible?
@doctorrespected4 жыл бұрын
Use a scale to measure the dia use a compass or draw a circle on a paper using the circle of the insides of the pulley .. or simply put your vehicle s model and search for the pulley online and search for pictures you can easily get the pulley belt tension bearing number on the images simple as that .

Just take the bearing to tractor supply it’s not that hard
@cvcoco5 жыл бұрын
But you have to get this really centered or the belt alignment will be off?
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90174 жыл бұрын
Just make sure it's the same as when you took it off.

The bearing costs more than the complete idler pulley, in my case. It's the shipping that is the deal killer. $22 to ship a small pulley? Nuts.
