The gear she used, the beehive behaviour explained all very interesting and useful. Useful in the way that I know to never get near a beehive like she does. And the banana candy smell has now a terrifying new meaning.

Not sure why your channel popped up on my feed, but I'm glad it did! I had a hive growing up, and I miss having bees. We had a wild hive living in the roof when I was in high school, and will never forget the sound they made when they swarmed. Eventually, a local beekeeper came by to remove them, and we donated the wax to a family friend who makes candles.

My neighbour has a beehive in one of her 2 sheds, she basically does not use it at all this summer. One of her kids had friends over and were in the backyard when a bee went near them. One of the friends swatted at the bee and the neighbours son told him not to do that, to be calm and that we don't want to hurt the bees. Smart kid.....people are learning! I have a garden and I can tell you those bees are doing a wonderful job pollinating!
@AccidentallyOnPurposeАй бұрын
I would be cautious like that though. Even very genetically gentle bees can become aggressive as the hive grows. If it's around a lot of pets and children they should be relocated. But it is true that swatting is one of the worst things you can do.

Thanks for the amazing videos and inspiration. I to remove bees in Northern Florida. I learned a different way to use my rubber bands. Instead of going around the frame in a perpendicular fashion, Mr Ed (another removal expert) positions his rubber bands diagonally from corner to corner. Hook the RB around the taps of the wooden frame to the opposite corner. Front and back. Hope this comes in handy. Dan

She will eventually. I live in AZ. All are bees here are now africanized. They are spreading east and north. They have been found in FL. You can't predict what ferial hives will do anymore. Her heart is in the right place, but she is going to one day cross a crazy hive and get hurt or killed. Killer bees swarm out here even when it's 20 degrees outside, so the old ideas these bees won't make it in cold weather are not true.
@CapitalCLYDEАй бұрын
The smoke is a HUGE part of it. So is the time of day and the weather. And bee genetics. As she says tho it’s not always this way and you shouldn’t intentionally mess with their space if you don’t know what you’re doing.

My grandmothers house on our reservation( were Native American obviously) has been empty for 15 years. My uncle has maintained it. The thing is the walls of the ENTIRE upstairs is filled with honey bees. I'm talking MILLIONS! Now that I am going back home to the reservation I have to move the bees. I cannot afford to pay for help so I am going to tackle this on my own🤦🏻♀️. Hopefully, KZbin videos, A bee suit, and crossed fingers will get me and the bees through this. I'm going to wait till fall because maybe they'll be less aggressive. Idk.

Oh no, bee safe! In all seriousness though, best of luck to you. Make sure you have emergency protocols in place, and hopefully they’re docile. If there’s that many of them, you can even contact content creators or companies with your story, maybe they’re willing to help you out for free.
@tealkerberus7483 ай бұрын
If you don't have money for help, do you have the money for enough boxes and frames for that many bees? Unless you're a skilled carpenter to make your own, those things aren't cheap. Also, if you're not planning on moving them around on a truck, I recommend horizontal hives. They're better for the bees and better for your back than the traditional vertical boxes - the only thing the vertical boxes do better is strap on a pallet for a forklift to hoist onto a truck.

Really nice work. Natural honey is so nourishing to the body unlike the commercial stuff sold in the market. Here in Jordan in the Middle East were I live natural honey is more expensive than what is sold commercially. Nice to see the way you handle all those bee hives. I still shiver to the fact that you don't wear protective suites. But anyway. Good luck always and bee safe. Cheers!
@tealkerberus7483 ай бұрын
If you can find a commercial brand that is cold pressed and not treated with anything, it will be just as healthy. After that the big advantage of having your own bees is that the honey is grown on your own plants - if you have any pollen or leaf allergies, the honey will help your body be less bothered by that. Also, although bees can travel several kilometres if they have to, they'll always prefer a good supply of nectar and pollen close to home. If you have a large garden or a farm full of good bee forage where you're not using poisonous chemicals, the honey from bees kept in the middle of that space will have less of those poisons in it than honey from bees kept where poisons are used on crops.
