I'm not sure if we ever have enough bee boxes. 😆 Good find.

If there were not active hives in the bee yard then you could think about sanitizing what you bought. I know a guy who bought 20 bee hives and all 200 of his other hives died within 2 years. For the hive bodies, wood frames and supers, etc. after scraping clean use a propane torch to slightly burn the insides then spray with Starsan mixed with water as the label says, let sit for 10 minutes the spray off with water. For the plastic foundation pressure wash all the nasty wax off, dip in very hot water to remove residual wax, let soak in bleachy soapy water overnight, rinse and let soak in 5 gallon bucket of mixed starsan overnight, rinse with water, then paint with melted bees wax so the bees will take to the frames. My hives still cannot keep a new swarm alive for a year so I am doing what I described above to have what is still usable after years of no bees.

If it's going to be a job or way of income , 46 beehives or more would do it .

46 hives that would cost me 46 thousand dollars in my part of the world.

Hi from southern New Zealand 👋😃 yeah i need 47 bee boxes😂 someone's already suggested it in a comment but washing soda, soap and hot water and a quick scrub will clean up the hive tool like new just in case you missed the comment about it 😂 ive cleaned up some pretty narly hobbyists boxes from a learner im helping who brought 12 boxes from a north island hobbyist this winter, they were nasty but just needed a scrub up and the frames cleaned and rewired with new foundation set and my hive tool still looks new👍😃 Great find though, nucs are handy. Best wishes 🐝👍👋

Looks like they were all nucs?
@JessShort2 ай бұрын
They are smaller NUC size hive boxes. They are a lot easier to lift when full of bees and honey!

@@JessShort I am 72 using 8 frame boxes but I am thinking about going all nuc sizes. Good score.

I do most of the beekeeping by myself due to the fam’s schedules. So, it does help a lot with moving everything around. How long have you been beekeeping?
@SylantBill2 ай бұрын
@@JessShort 3 years. Last year we got 1 5 gal bucket of honey from 6 colonies. This year we got 10 5 gal buckets totalling 545 lbs. I watched the Bee Whisperer and used his DeMarre setup to prevent swarming. I used David Burns system to max out forger bees. I counted back from the start of my flow 42 days and started building brood from that date resulting in a boatload of bees just as our flow started. Hope this helps.
@Ziggysbees2 ай бұрын
Did you get the equipment inspected for foul brood? That's always a concern I have when thinking of getting used stuff. Hope there isn't but always a thought. Thks for sharing
@JessShort2 ай бұрын
I have always been a bit leery of used bee stuff but couldn’t pass the deal up! The hives had been left unattended for a few years. When I went to pack them all up there were no signs of bees anywhere - just wasps, and evidence of wax months. I let them sit through a winter before cleaning any out in an effort to clear out any pests that wouldn’t make it through the season. I’ve used some without issue and sold quite a few.
@Ziggysbees2 ай бұрын
@@JessShort For pests it's ok to freeze and feel good about it but American foul brood can be there for decades and longer. I understand the deal but sometimes it's not always a given that all is good, but I do hope all is. Take care.

alcohol like you buy at walmart will clean your hive tool and putty knife. Will take like ten mins if you do it right.

@@MotherClover I fell off for a long time because KZbin started getting weird and straying from its roots. I would try to pop back in and get disillusioned. Now that I’m old af I’ve decided that if those of us who stopped because of that reason continue to let it be, it won’t benefit the platform. So… here I am.
