1-2-3 Method: When you take your foot off the brake, don't accelerate immediately since that'll cause the car to jerk. Instead take the foot off the brake, move it to the accelerator but don't press it yet, count 1-2-3 and then press it gently. By the time you've finished counting 1-2-3, the car should've picked up some speed by itself which will help to build up speed by accelerating and without jerky movements. Thanks a lot, Pierre!

Yesterday trying to turn I almost tboned someone because we both waited then started turning at the same time. I it the break and not the gas like it did 15 years ago 😅. So when you’re driving, you tap the gas pedal and let both feet rest until you need to tap the break slowly come to a full stop? Now on a highway you keep tapping the gas until it hit the recommended speed limit ?

With an automatic transmission best practice is to use your right foot (American setup) only for the gas, your left foot only for the brake. That avoids pedal error where the driver smashes the accelerator when intending to hit the brakes. This is a common error. Watch any car crash video compilation and you're sure to see a couple of examples. Also, never "ride" the brake. That is, keep your foot off the brake pedal unless you are actually braking. Riding the pedal can result in inadvertantly pushing the pedal slightly which can wear out or even dangerously overheat the brakes. Basic stuff.

The left foot should control the brake. The 3 positions of the left foot are rest, alert, and engaged and your driver commentary can determine which position the left foot is in
@AKKhan-dd9ez2 жыл бұрын
Not really, if you control the brake with your left foot, and accelerator with right foot, that will cause a crash. ALWAYS use your right foot to control both pedals.
