Hello Anila! Thank you for reaching out. We don't have a specific video on turn lanes, but that is a great idea and I will add it to our list of videos to make! In the meantime, just remember that you must always S.M.O.G. (Signal Mirror Over-the-Shoulder Go) before entering any turn lane. You are technically making a lane change when you go into a turn lane, so make sure to signal and do your traffic checks first. Hello and thanks for watching! That device you see behind the driver's brake pedal is a cable that connects to a secondary brake pedal on the vehicle's passenger side. Because we are a driving school, all of our training vehicles are equipped with this secondary brake that our instructors can use to stop the car. Of course, your car and most other cars would not have this cable and extra braking system. Hope that helps!

Every situation is different and requires good judgment. Hopefully, this never happens to you, but sometimes you'll need to choose between two difficult options: hitting something or getting rear-ended. For example, if a squirrel runs in front of you, you obviously don't want to hit the poor little thing. But if there's a big truck speeding behind you, slamming on your brakes could cause a serious rear-end collision. In that case, you'd continue driving to avoid a dangerous crash with the truck, even if it means not stopping for the squirrel. I hope that makes things clearer!

When in drive, automatic cars will still move if you're not pressing the brake, even if you are not pressing the accelerator.

Great question! Just remember that at the end of the day you need to take care of you and your passengers. Don't feel peer-pressured into driving faster than the speed limit. That's the tailgaters problem and let them deal with their impatience. With that said, never make eye contact or make hand gestures (no matter how tempting) with someone tailgating you - the best thing you can do is avoid them and ignore them the best you can until they drive out of your life and you never have to deal with the again. I have a question. Do I have to retake drivers Ed (pink or blue certificate) and driver training if my permit expires after a year? (Under 18). It’s because I’ve heard that drivers Ed certificate expires within 1 year

Hello, great question and a gray area for sure! From our years of experience with the DMV, they do not give students any issues when the pink/blue cert is over a year old. It's also worth noting that is no expiration date listed on the drivers ed pink/blue cert. However, we have also heard from some DMVs that drivers ed certs are only supposed to be good for a year. I think the confusion at the DMV comes with the actual learners permit itself, which does expire a year after you apply for it. But having a year-old pink drivers ed cert shouldn't cause problems. For the most definitive answer, you could ask the DMV directly. If so, here's what I would suggest: 1) Go to www.dmv.ca.gov/ 2) Click "Ask DMV" link on the bottom of the screen 3) In the question box, type "rep" You can then speak to a DMV agent over chat and they can answer your question with 99.9% accuracy. This option is actually pretty fast. Hope that helps!!

Do people usually take more than 3 attempts to pass behind the wheel test or the written test more?

Hello! That is a tough question. Both tests are so different, so some people might struggle on the written test, but to well on the drive test. The reverse is also true - some people are great multiple choice test takers with great memories, but they still struggle with the mechanics of driving. I know of many people who have failed the written test over 3 times, and also a few that have failed the drive test more than 3 times. I personally think that the behind the wheel drive test is more challenging because it is testing you out in the "real world" where the elements and conditions are out of your control and you have to be able to adapt to whatever situation presents itself. But that's just me, I'm sure others would find the written test more challenging because of all the detailed information you need to know. Let us know what you think and thanks for watching!

I am confused as where to look while braking. I had my course today and almost rear ended them because I was looking directly at the back of the vehicle. Where should I be looking so I don’t make that mistake again? I know that you go where you look so I obviously went to where I was going but just confused where I should be looking.

Hello! When you're driving, you should avoid staring at the car directly ahead of you and instead look at the "big picture" and take in everything in front of you, looking about 10-15 seconds ahead (a few blocks). That way, not only can you see the car directly in front of you, you can also see the cars further ahead, traffic lights, and other potential obstacles. By taking in the big picture and scanning constantly of the situation ahead, you'll be prepared in advance for when to start braking and other potential issues. Hope that helps!

In 4:53, during in a test if you stop too close, is that an automatic fail or points off?

Hello, great question! If you stop too close or even a little bit on the stop line, it's most likely just a point off (unless there is someone in the crosswalk). You probably won't get an auto fail for going over the line unless you go over by a foot or more. But you never know, so better to make sure you stop behind the line, and come to a COMPLETE stop. @@llfilomanHello again! Same thing - if you get a little too close and can't quite see the tires, probably just a point off. But, if you get really close or stop to abruptly and too close, that could be an auto-fail. It really just depends on the situation. Hope that helps!

Hello! I am not 100% sure what you are asking, but in general, you always want to wear shoes that fit well and are comfortable. Tennis shoes or running shoes that fit securely on your foot and have a flat sole are great for applying even pressure on the accelerator and brake pedals. Loose shoes, high heels, and sandals are not recommended, as they can interfere with your foot control or even fall off and become lodged beneath the pedals. Hope that helps!

@@davet.1891 Oh, I see, thanks for clarifying! If that's the case, I would recommend trying a different pair of shoes where the heel can touch the floor. If that is not possible, then you have to work a little more on being smooth with your foot control even though you are unable to pivot with your heel. Also, make sure that you are seated close enough forward that you can easily reach the pedals without having to stretch your feet. Being seated correctly can help you position your feat on the pedals more effectively. Finally, I've had several students that were not easily able to pivot and they eventually developed smooth foot control through extra practice and repetition. Best of luck to you!
