"Hello, I'm your subscriber from Indonesia, please help, when I have a new car, replace the high pressure hose on my power steer pump because initially there was an oil leak. But after I changed my steering wheel, if I made it turn left or right, there was a buzzing sound that could be felt in the car cabin. Where does this come from? I tried consulting with a repair shop and they said my power pump was damaged. In your opinion, is the mechanical analysis in Indonesia correct? And finally, can my power pump be repaired and what parts do you think need to be replaced? Thank you very much in advance, I am waiting to hear from you. GBU."

I need to do this, but I also have been thinking about changing the spark plugs as my car has over 130,000 miles and I don’t believe they have ever been changed. With changing the spark plugs the intake manifold has to be removed. Would removing the manifold make this job easier as well?

i worked so much on mine that make me pissed at the engineers who designed this car. u swear tiny elves the size of gold balls are need for this kind of work. i did the alternator a couple weeks ago, and half the time was me swearing and hoping the fucker who designed this choke on a 10mm nut. A few days later manage to get it up and running. Though now i notice the the power steering fluid tank slowly dropping it level makes me wonder what hell awaits next. i do love this car and i wished i had alot of money so id just do an engine swap and route things properly.

The plastic clip thats holding the return line. I have a leak just above that. It looks like where a big black hose connects to the small metal line. It’s dripping off of that clip. It runs straight down. I could barely fit under his car, where he was. Is that the return line ?

Man, thanks so much for the video. I have big arms but was still able to get the rear bracket bolt to break with a flex ratchet and then remove by hand. My neighbor has a lift or else I wouldn’t have attempted this job. I was most frustrated and spent probably an hour getting the banjo bolt threads lined up. (I connected after the middle bracket and r&P line) I ended using spray adhesive to hold the copper washers in place. 😄 I drank a cold old after starting the threads. It was well earned.

Definitely not one of my more pleasurable experiences, but the video helped a lot, thank you. Get the swivel ball socket for sure, the universals will bind and need more room. Invest in a pair of, some refer to as, tire handling gloves. Move along the firewall edge to remove the plastic trim line along the bottom edge of the windshield [buy a box of nissan nylon pins...trust me...have a box in the garage, they always break] to reveal a long black bracket, the one that chews up your forearms getting at that under hood topside bracket. Maybe 10, 10mm bolts and a 3/8" cordless driver and this is thing is off [loosening the brackets that hold this along the base of the glass, and swing those up out of the way to remove the long black bracket. This clears up tons of room and can trim literally hours off this job, because it aligns the integral angle of the hose as it turns upwards above the banjo bolt. Do not buy the knockoff hoses on Ebay. They are retrofit and require bending and some do not include the brackets. Buy the Import Direct brand that most part stores have as a foreign/Nissan line. 2005 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL was part number : 13401158 and paid about 65 bucks for it.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, your video was very helpful. I just did mine, at first I changed the high pressure hose and because I didn't take quick action changing the hose I ended up changing the pump and the return hose from reservoir. I noticed that if you dismantle the windshield wipers and the bay underneath, you will not need to touch the axle and you will have a plenty of room and you can work from top especially to reach 1) the 10 mm bolt holding the high pressure hose to the manifold, 2) remove the hidden 14 mm bolt holding the PS pump from the back of the pump and 3) remove the front 12 mm bolt with the tension bolt. All what you need to remove the pump is ratchet wrenches 14 & 12 and if you have a stubby wrenches will be more helpful. Removing the windshield will take 10 minutes work. Putting back the repaired/new pump was little challenging but interesting. Good luck everybody!

Just replace the same hose and it was easier removing the winshield wipers and the housing. allowed me to work from top all the way. I think the hardest part was to put the hose bolt back into the pump with the washer, but it wasn't that bad after all. It's worth to spend about 15 minutes removing that windshield wipers housing. Thanks for the tip!

My O-ring kit came with two washers and two O-rings a big one and a small one but my original banjo bolt only had two washers on it no ring. So does my 05 Altima not need a oring on the banjo bolt? And also out of the two o rings I got in the kit, which goes on the driver side end? Or do both?

I agree. Great video! Thanks, this saved me a lot. This is a huge job. While it didn't take me 3 days like Capin Olson , it was the better part of 1 day. Removing the hose from the rack and piñon is like 1/8-1/4 turn at a time thanks to the speedo cable placement. I could only reach the two bolds on the lower bracket from underneath with a wobbly and extensions. Get the car as high up as you can if you don't have a lift. I eventually removed the upper intake manifold (like for changing rear coil packs) to get the top bracket and to remove/insert the hose. Might be worth $600.00 to a shop unless you have a lot of time and patience and $600.00. This should not be this hard.

just replaced mine, and removing the windshield wipers and the housing allowed me to do everything from the top. as far as removing the tubing conection hose from the rack and pinion, just use an open wrench and angle it about 45 degrees. that allows way more play when removing and installing.

Just one thing I wish you added was the electrical plug on how to disconnect. My eyes are bad and couldn't get a look at the way it locked on,i thought you might have to put a small flat tip in it or pray a lever up, finally took a few pics zoomed in and pushed in the button.
