I honestly think that BECAUSE they are so hyper-specific, it would be really fun to have an episode dedicated to getting several vastly different cocktails out of these syrups. It might not be useful for regular bartending, but for the individual? I think it would be cool!

True! And also "Kid McCoy," the savvy boxer, and Prohibition's gentleman rumrunner, Cpt. Bill McCoy, who was known for never adulterating his rum. Speakeasy patrons up & down the East Coast knew to ask for "The Real McCoy" to avoid the "booze" and "hooch" which might have anything from water & prune juice to turpentine added. 😬 Always go for the real deal. ;)

Hey Greg, just wanted to thank you for all the quality content. I found your channel right after turning 21 a few years ago. I worked as a cook in a higher-end restaurant at the time and between you and the bartenders I worked with I learned to appreciate alcohol for more than it's get-you-drunk potential. I just turned 25 and am still impressing my friends with quality old-fashions and rum-flavored crème brulees. I've learned a lot from you and have even bought several of your reading suggestions, such as "Liquid Intelligence". You've helped me learn how to truly appreciate alcohol and have even helped me develop my palate. I have a recipe with my name on it at a restaurant I used to work at, I built that recipe using knowledge you helped me gain. So THANK YOU, I cannot truly express my gratitude beyond that. I hope you, your family and everyone else in your life is doing well.

Does anyone else want a book of all the funny and weird tasting notes that they put up on the screen? Like maybe a coffee table style book? I think it would be really fun, especially maybe reading the notes without the context of what Greg is saying about it.
@jonored

Maybe every right hand page is the notes over Greg's face, like a title page, then every left is a quick bit of what Greg actually said and the recipe associated with the thing on that _sheet_ - so you don't see the context and the notes at the same time.

As far as mojito 'mix' goes, ive found grinding up dried mint and sugar into a powder can do some good things! Just pour a scoop into the glass over ice, top with rum and the soda. Granted, it turns the drink completely green and murky but it tastes fantastic.

The cocktail & Son portion really made me happy. I bought the advent syrups on a whim last year and ony used the wassail, tonic, and blueberry by this point, but seeing this made me dig out the box to try the woderwall , and definitely agree it was a great drink, but the syrups are largely too specific to be used unless you willing to be creative, with such a small quantity of syrup.

Hey I got ya on that liber co. Been using em for awhile cause you got me into this whole cocktail thing. 1. Rainbow sherbert sour- Hendricks og, lime juice, liber blood orange, egg white (shaken). Bitters like raspberry or something if you want a little complexity. 2. Key lime pie- Pilar blonde rum, lime juice, liber orgeat, egg white. Bonus drink (my favorite) -- Bourbon amaretto sour: 1:1 favorite cask strength Bourbon (the funkier the better imo): lazzaroni peach, with pure cane or light brown simple syrup, lemon juice, and egg white. Peach bitters. I like sours if it's not already apparent. I feel like the egg whites can represent a merengue or sherbert amazingly. And using gins and rums in what i consider sours, but may be classified differently, along with the liber type flavored syrups can make a simple drink complex in all the best ways. Careful with the sweetness however.

Great video! More like these would be welcome. My least favorite vids are the nightmare drinks, though the funniest for me was the 70s one.

Liber & Co makes a wonderful passion fruit syrup but that’s the only one I’ll use

i love buying interesting syrups to mix w gin and soda! i don’t think anything needs to have a specific purpose! just a way to spice things up!

I have a couple of those liber syrups, glad they got your seal of approval. Just in case you didn't see the fine print, the ones that I have all recommend refrigeration after opening!

so I got a bottle of mezcal recently, and have been messing around with a few different directions to take it, because yes it is a very powerful flavor, but this one is my current favorite: 2 oz mexcal 1 oz lime 1/4 oz peach schnapps 1/2 oz simple syrup 1/2 oz campari optional egg white top with club soda and garnish with an orange twist.

The liber & co orgeat is really good in a Mai tai. I tried to make my one until I found that at a local specialty shop.

I am shocked this is the first time Greg has had Liber & Co stuff. I keep half these things in my home bar all the time.

I’m so glad I got to see your opinion on xicaru. I work with RDNC and that stuff flys out of our warehouse. Another spirit you need to look out for is woodford reserve rye to me it almost has a mint back note to it that almost reminds me of a good mint tea 🤤

I am so glad Liber was good across the board. We use their passionfruit syrup & find it difficult to get good versions otherwise.
