5 Tips for Ocean World - Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

My wife and I did this exact experience 1 week ago today on the Caribbean Princess and was an incredible time at Ocean World! We are destined to go back to the DR and experience everything else the coastal country has to offer. Dolphin Swim, Birds and Sea Lions were amazing. I loved that we could jump in the pool when it got hot which it was this past week. Our guides were great also, Bomp da da bom bomp....BOMP BOMP!

Thanks for the info on the dolphin encounter. Doing an RCL cruise to Puerto Plata and we've been looking at the swim vs the encounter. Also great info on the restaurant as the excursion descriptions make you think it's just a buffet.

Great post. That is one of the things we loved about ocean world vs the typical small dolphin centers in the Carib. For us and what they told us, the pools are huge and seem like the biggest in Carib. The dolphins seemed very happy and they seem to have a lot of room. Even more than Sea world. Going on the Celebration in 2 weeks and want to go to Ocean World. Is the only way to get there from the ship’s excursion ? I thought in one video you could get a ticket there when you got off the ship. Thanks

You can definitely get a ticket after off the ship, but you want to depart ship early as possible.
