I love how the GoPro on the stick makes it looks like everything except the stick is moving, because the camera is filming from the stick's frame of reference, and the camera, unlike our brains, does not learn, and does not take this into account. This is why we can tell we are moving, and not that everything is moving around us.

I've always just used candles that i steal from my moms place! last season was pumpkin spice. I never really thought about how the malleability will change with temperature, I probably shouldn't be using those candles then. Thanks!

Years ago...I have seen players oil the tape on their sticks... Any oil would work... motor oil, baby oil, mineral oil....ect... as long as it kept the ice from forming on the blade... I have seen one guy use liquid soap from the dispensers in the locker room sinks...seemed to work well for him...

Those shots between your skates you were doing were fucking bad ass. Totally cool man. I'm from st Louis and I always watched the Blues on tv, but it really doesn't get cold enough to skate in the winter. I live about 20 min south of the city, with a lake in my back yard. We got maybe if we were lucky 3 weeks of safe ice. So it was hard to get into the sport. But it was fun to skate the ice when we had it. And I have never seen no shots up close like you guys were doing.

I don't think it would slow "alot". the wax will freeze/harden so it wont be very sticky, and it wouldn't stick to the ice anyways. very minor, negligible effect.

Yes you can use no tape. I tried it with this wax and it actually felt fine. I like having tape though, a little more protection on the blade, and a bit softer feel

Can this protect the bottom of my stick from wearing out? I have been using sherwood's ek15 (now changed to ek60 because they are discontinued) because it is the lightest stick you can get at 385 grams and I just can't go back to heavier now. Problem is the blade wears out relatively fast. It is an expensive stick so I am looking for a way to make them last longer (also checked the sniper skin but not sure that would help).

I had never previously used wax but I was looking for an edge in puck control so I purchased ProPerformance based on your recommendation. This stuff is amazing, I have so much better puck control with this product. Since using this product I gained not only a more accurate wrist shot but my backhand is insane. In fact, my backhand is sometimes too tacky and I shoot overtop of the net -- something I just needed to adjust for. It's rare a simple (and cheap) tool can add so much benefit but this stuff ROCKS!

I use plain old A&R wax but after I apply the stick I smear and rub it into the tape with my thumb. Never had a problem with flaking doing that and the tackiness/water repelling lasts as long as the tape job does. Still giving the starter pack a try though. Seems like a decent deal.

I'd actually suggest putting your blade up to a heater after waxing. It will make the wax melt into the fabric of the tape which makes water roll off of the tape really easily. Test it out.

Great video. I'd just like to add an idea. I like to apply wax then very carefully hold my blade up to some heat (hair dryer or stove). it melts the wax into the tape and I get no ice buildup and my tape jobs last forever! i like lucky or just tge simple a/r wax in the blue tube. Keep the videos coming. you do an amazing job!
