Definitely going to try this. Is the pole pvc pipe?
@MoSportsUSA2 жыл бұрын
What a great idea, but a couple of constructive suggestions. 1) Try using threaded hooks or open eye bolts at the top instead, especially if you suspect that winds could dislodge the wires. 2) I almost cringed when I saw you were using straight wire staples pushed hard into the ground instead of insulated wire staples. Again, great idea and thanks for doing the hard part of coming up with a wonderful new take on a Christmas tree!
@GunnerHillTX Жыл бұрын
Landscape pins are intended for holding down weed barrier fabric, etc, so they're much longer, wider, blunter and thicker gauge than wire staples. One would have to be extremely careless/unlucky if the lighting wire was damaged while the pins were being pushed into the ground. If wear & tear on the light wire is the concern, there's nothing to stop someone going to the bother of wrapping electrical tape around the pins' bare wire.

How did you get the pipe to stay in the ground?
@HowToHomeDIY2 жыл бұрын
Just ran it into the ground about a foot and the lights all around help stabilize it. It stayed the 2 months we had it up and while it wasn’t hard to take it out of the ground, it didn’t just come right out.
@morerandomthanyou98522 жыл бұрын
Hey man could you please do a durability test with it cause I'm worried when I bye one it will fall in the wind
@HowToHomeDIY2 жыл бұрын
I have had mine in the ground about two weeks now and we have had some strong windy days, it hasn’t moved. The important thing is making sure it’s far enough in the ground. If it is, it’s not going fall and while it’s not much, the lights are adding some support as well.

Would PVC work in a windy area? I was thinking of pounding a piece of rebar into the ground and slipping the pvd over it. I want smaller treen, 3-5ft max.
@HowToHomeDIY2 жыл бұрын
With the rebar underneath the pvc I think that would work well as long as the soil isn’t too sandy. May have to put it in the ground a ways depending on that. Good idea!
@KathysFinancialSmarts2 жыл бұрын
@@HowToHomeDIY I use rebar for my other plywood decorations I made. This seemed much easier. Our ground is rock hard with lots of rocks, so I just have to pick a good spot to pound in the rebar. Was going to go through a planted plant, then steak with the staples onto the artificial turf. : )
