Potential Relay must be installed with proper orientation, they will show an arrow or designated to top. If installed incorrectly they will fail to disconnect the starting capacitor from the compressor causing potential failure.

If you buy this you deserve the results. Even the smallest amount of research says this is a bad idea from almost every expert that sees it.

I use that exact filter because the static pressure of the 3m basic and many of the cheaper filters was higher and they barely filter properly. The cheaper filters have much less filter material and less pleats, so less surface area for the air to move through. AC companies could do everyone a favor and install grills that can take a 2- or 4-inch filter instead of the crappy 1-inch filters.

I’ve been building a smokeless pit this weekend based off of your first video, the things I did differently from yours is dug down 8” and did two tiers of blocks in ground and then at ground level started my my spaced blocks, just waiting on the concrete big to come in from Amazon so I can install that. My last step will be to put cap blocks all the way around the top of the pit to dress it up. All in I spent about $500 but that’s also including crushed stone for a 14’ diameter stone patio going wrong the fire pit.

I don’t know if he did this for illustration purposes, but he never fully plugged in the “dead” one. I heard the click on the second one, but not the first. He even used his thumb on the second one to make sure it was plugged in.

I honestly have no idea how some are coming up with this. I’ve watched it over again to try and see what you’re talking about. That did not happen. They were all 100% seated. The second one I remember it wasn’t seating as easily as it had earlier on so I made sure it was down. No trickery here.

Not sure if you're a certified Journeyman electrician but I thought that I would offer another way that I find much safer to ensure you have the correct conductor wire on the correct switch location on your double switch. With the power off and all your wires unconnected hanging loose. Take one of your wires either red or black and have it make contact with the ground conductor at the ceiling fan and then at the switch location take that same color wire and using the ohms resistance toner on every electrical meter you could simply tone out that wire. For the sake of KZbin videos and showing other people I thought I would mention this because when it comes to electricity you can never be too safe especially when showing other people what to do. I mean no disrespect I've just been at it for a long time and maybe you have to and already know what I'm talking about

I actually use a bit of dishwasher liquid with water in a lawn sprayer and spray from the inside and outside. I follow up with a good rinse. First wash was two years ago when the unit was five years old. It actually looked pretty clean but decided to do it after watching several videos.

I have a home that I built in 1992 is about 2000 SQF and has a whole house heating and cooling system on the roof (California type install). I have been all over KZbin and the advise by installers and people who service is the same as yours. I have a little bit of a problem that appears difficult to deal with. My air return is a rather large size being 20X30X1 what I noticed upon serving the system is that much of the service area is not used all that much. It is very clear that about 2 to 3 inches on each side is not used and remains clean and the middle is where the dust and dirt accumulates. I was thinking about using a 20X30X1 electrostatic filter as a base and getting the merv8 8 filter material to use on the outside of that as I need a base. Though It is probably way cheaper to just use a merv 8 is easier, if I can find them in the size I need. That is not all that easy, perhaps online.

All those words an nothing about which connection is the most solid and most surface area. Just garbage comparison
@HowToHomeDIY
@HowToHomeDIY 15 сағат бұрын
😂 all of that was covered and they both have their pros and cons. If you’re concerned about surface contact then I wouldn’t be looking at either of these, Wire nuts provide the most surface contact. So take it easy Wayne.

Sooo, what do you recommend for people who cannot afford a stand-alone filter, the people who don’t need to watch after 5:50. ? Filtrete (anyway), or Fiberglass Air Filter MERV 1. I truly do not snark! While I can, and do, afford (for the time being) that which is best suited, I have a friend who cannot. Help!
@HowToHomeDIY
@HowToHomeDIY 15 сағат бұрын
There is nothing wrong with Filtrete filters. It’s the MERV rating that matters for all brands. Like I mentioned in the video, I use a MERV 6. Up to MERV 8 I also believe is good. MERV 10 as the absolute max depending on the filter but I personally stay away from those. And again, in any brand. We have to use a filter to protect our air handlers. But if someone is needing their air to be filtered so well as to remove smoke, pollen, etc. then an air purifier is the way to go in order to take the strain off your system from higher MERV filters but they also just flat out with better. I hope I was able to answer your question?

You missed one very critical step. Make sure the box is installed to code. You'd be surprised at the number of boxes that are just side screwed to a roof truss or floor joist! They may have held a light fixture for years but a fan is different. Not only is it heavy but it has torque. I've seen this a lot!

When our HVAC guy did our house he sized the system for 20”x25”x5” MERV 11. Our house doesn’t get dusty and it has helped with mild seasonal allergies. We also installed an air sanitizing UV system. No regrets.

1st, don't go above a mirv 8. 2nd get your system to accept a 2" thick air filter. A 1" filter, no matter the mirv level, is too restrictive. A 2" filter actually filters better and allows better air flow. Also, in most cases you can go 4 months in between filter changes.

When the batteries have been used all the time and stop holding the charge or getting very little charge those batteries are no good anymore, you need to replace them, this trick works when the battery is good but it has lost all the charge , you set it on the charger and because it has no charge at all the charger doesn’t know that it has a battery that it needs to be charged, so you jumpe start the bad battery for about 10 seconds, you set it on the charger then the charger know that it is a battery that needs to be charge because with the little power that the battery has send a message to the charger, so old worn out batteries need to be replaced

35 year elevator mechanic here. I’ve used wirenuts for every wire 14 gauge and larger, both stranded and solid wire. Used to be the only approved connectors for >14 ga. were Kearny’s and wirenuts. You have to properly tighten them, and if you’re dealing with vibration, I was taught to wrap the finished connection tightly with electrical tape. Never had one come loose, including ones I had done decades ago that I needed to cut off because they were too tight to undo manually.
