When you get to the more complicated stitches, there seem to be so many variations. My 'vintage' pattern prescribes this stitch, but tells you to slip the first of the 3 knits in row 1. Does this make it a different stitch? And I've found, on KZbin and elsewhere, 4 different ways of doing Fisherman's Rib. Very confusing for the novice!

It’s been two years since your question. However, if you slip the stitches you’ll have to add them back at some point. Probably somewhere in the next row or two. It’s hard too answer without knowing the pattern.

All the even rows are purled, so u knit them instead. The rest stays the same, and just ignore the edge stitches. Done!
