This is why it's really really good to practice freestyling. You naturally tap into that mindset 247

Wow. I've been slowly building to this revelation almost subliminally. But this video really confirms it & puts it into perspective. I had written the chorus & the first verse to my soon to be released song very quickly. Then I told myself the next verse I would manufacture when I found the time & energy. A week later I still hadn't found it. My back was killing me & I didn't see myself writing, I took an Epsom salt bath & suddenly everything in my brain started clicking. I wound up staying up until 2AM & finishing the song with the 2nd verse spanning 32 bars of pure magic

had really bad writers block for a month straight when i used to focus so much on writing fire lyrics and making sure every line was amazing. once i just started to have fun and be creative, i just started punching in and scatting ideas then thinking of the lyrics. in the end, melody and flow is more important that what you actually say. notice when people can’t get a song out of there head but don’t remember the lyrics and they sing the melody. just have fun w it

I've been writing this verse on a track my friend asked me to hop on, i wanted to present the best verse so I've been second guessing every bar but after this video I'm rewriting everything in one section just following my instincts and flowing with the beat💯

Ay man, I just want to thank you for how much you have helped me and many others get better at rapping. I learned a lot from your channel, not only writing raps, but also freestyling. I promise I will write a rap and share it on the comment section someday. I am currently quite busy but in the christmas vacations I will write a couple of bars in the comments of the videos you upload. Thank you so much man.

Balance. Taking small breaks is necessary when you're pushing yourself to the point of writing poetry (or practicing anything) every single day for years. While you can learn to get into a flow state, they will also arise spontaneously. Be ready. There is an element of truth in "waiting for inspiration". If you think you want to write about something but it's feeling forced, detach from the work, but keep going until you're done. Anything you write isn't necessarily a song, but it's definitely practice. This will prepare your brain for when the time actually is right to write on this topic.

6:47 I've noticed this "30 minute" pocket personally; for the first half our of writing/recording/producing I feel embarrassed, on edge, unmotivated, but after that time passes I say "screw it" and start doing whatever I want. It's happened with many of my songs, and it makes complete sense. Definitely gonna do that three (or more) hour session tomorrow morning👍 Hope yall make amazing music🎧🩵

I appreciate the realness in this. A lot of 'experts' out there giving out BS information just for views, content & create a hook. Something I always find that helps me though is also letting the song live. I'll get a song 80% finished then give myself time to be out in the world, as I come up with a lot of ideas when I'm out & about. Obviously there is a limit where you need to put the song out & stop going back tweaking tiny little things, I agree with the longer you take the worse it sounds. It's a combination of the first point & also letting the song create itself for me!

ok i am 40 years old now and i startet very late about 8 years ago to write and rap my own songs and i can confirm its often like something gives me input from above and i am just a tool which is writing down the orders and the Text is finished within one evening. But usually it takes up to one week to perfect it and create a proper flow and sentence rhymes, and trust me, this is work! definitely (;

You’re on point with all of this. I recently did a feature with my homegirl and we didn’t prepare any lyrics for the session. We went verse for verse just vibing out and building on each other’s energy. When the beat cut off we realized we didn’t have a hook, but when we played the song back it sounded just right as is. Not “perfect”, but just right. The beat didn’t demand a hook, it demanded constant momentum that built up to a big finish at the end. Could we have forced an artificial hook? Of course. But we agreed it would’ve sounded disingenuous. Go with your gut and just vibe. It’s fun.

Writing better raps is easy, grab a book, a pen, a novel and go to the library study, pray, eat, sleep, the moment you wake up. The raw ideas that come to mind at that time, Sure tell you what to write about. That's how I write my raps and I've grown a steady clientele Give thanks God first in everything

If you don't have to edit some, you're not lyrically inclined. Nobody wants to keep listening to haphazard arse lyrics that took 5-7 minutes in total to write. That's why some artists write lines that sound like jargon. Either you want to be considered legendary or just hot for a season and then they're saying you fell off.
