And this is the difference between kdot and Cole while it is also at the same time their similarity. When you listen to the layers of a k dot song down to the adlibs it is clear that he creates his songs systematically although everything he puts on a song is just a natural feeling. Where as Cole systematically puts his words together SPECIFICALLY. He follows the rules of writing. Kendrick doesn't it's crazy it separated and unites them really
@Byronic191342 жыл бұрын
This is an interesting comment and a lot to unpack. As a writer and performer myself I relate most to the way Kendrick writes and I understand his process. Kendrick is a narrator and who uses words to keep a common theme together then delivers it like a percussion instrument. Cole is more musically inclined imo and whereas Kendrick writes like he wants a Poete Laureate, Cole writes like he wants people to know the songs and sing them in ur head later. But whereas Kendrick will lace complex thought for ur subconscious to decipher later, Cole will simplify a complex idea to make it more easily digestible but still layered in meaning. And whereas Kendrick raps like a percussion over the beat, Cole will serenade his lyrics like a lead synth weaving in and out of the best.

J Cole - that is a good enough book to keep reading. It is like reading half the Art of War. The best books by writers writing about writing (because you gotta write stuff other than lyrics to grow and change as a lyricist) are Bird by Bird and The Wild Mind. Definitely stream of consciousness helps with block. Also On Writing by Stephen King is Iceberg Slim is. No one is trying to be either but itfood for thought.

Hey so honestly I've been freestyling since I was in Elementary school I'm 17 now but I just can't seem to write and I keep using the same words and same rhymes I feel like a beginner but I can flow on most beats and sound good without thinking too hard but I don’t know what to do i basically learned how to rap by just freestlying nothing else like no rythm or anything I just rhymed on beats and that’s it
@logan22172 жыл бұрын
Study poetry. Or Pick your favorite song and study the lyrics, syllables, rhyme scheme, etc. Look up “type beats” with pre made rhyme words and write to those for practice. It’s all about practice
@coachgoody4212 жыл бұрын
Ok, so when you're freestyling, do you like repeating words? Prolly not. So force that same rule in writing, no repeating anything unless its a BASE WORD( the, and or ). Find another way to phrase it if you have to, re-write the line 3 times. Create a connection in several ways between words. So you want several that start with or have the same letter in them word at least 3 times every line. You want to change up how you scheme the rhymes. You do not need to think out the whole concept when writing, you can free-write. You can let the story unfold as you grow it in size and direction. Play around with language and don't worry too much about rules. But learn them before you break them so you can do so properly, when necessary instead of foolishly. You want an idea, but not a machine. you want to have a purpose, some value behind why you're writing. It doesn't have to be a "GOOD" one. You can write about bad things in a great way. Do not limit yourself by anything other than your own values. Write out 8-16 lines, read it, consider if re-organizing it might help. If you want more advice, reach out to me on twitter. @AlGoody421 Im willing to talk about rhymes with anyone as long as there's some substance to them, some desire to show skill...
@ann0d0m1n12 жыл бұрын
Fuck around with the delivery of slant rhymes like armor-barber, hairline-caroline, big racks-Rorschachs. It's in the delivery that is *sounds* good, and delivery is what sets apart a good freestyle from someone just rhyming words on a beat. Are you going to pronounce "Caroline" care-oh-line or care-uh-line? You get to decide, and in that way a single word can suddenly rhyme with many. You can also explore *thematic* freestyle, where the emphasis isn't necessarily on the words *rhyming* but a consistent theme. You could free style something like "woke up early this morning, had a hunger in my belly. put some new shoes on, pop the news on the telly. aint no morning- as nice as this, sun shining bright- let's hit a lick pistol in my grip let's go to war, kiss my mama goodbye n I'm out the door" The thematic element of "waking up in the morning" allows your brain to easily grab things from the morning routine- ie being hungry, putting your shoes on, watching tv, grabbing your gun, etc. Normal morning routines. This removes a lot of the barriers that come with freestyling, such as "wtf do I say?" and it reduces the issue of having to return to the same rhymes or filler words so often.

I’m your child and my opinions don't matter. Please don’t make me decide Whom I love the most That would be disastrous. The hatred between us is cancerous. We could work our differences out. The reason why I scream and shout. There’s always animosity between you two. And I don’t know what that’s about. I’m sick of being your personal Mediator. Do you want to kill each other like the Terminator? Mom and Dad were having heated conversations. I’m in the middle trying to diffuse their situation Before it escalates into a physical confrontation. Sometimes I succeed and other times I fail. I’m tired of this hell. home is where the heart is. But since you two are falling in and out of love. This brick-and-mortar is heartless. I hope for better days for our household. We are suffering in the darkness. Lately all I have been hearing from both of you Is that my son? And he’s coming with me. Honestly I rather not leave. I’m stuck in the middle and this little kid Can’t save this marriage. Maybe I should get back in the baby carriage. And wheel off into the abyss. Let me kiss my parents goodbye. I’ve seen these papers and it’s big words that I can’t understand. But I hear the words in their voice. My parents are getting a divorce. I wish we could find it in our hearts to Forgive for our transgressions. And this ruthless aggression may it dissipate We don’t need the hate. Just give us the courage to resuscitate our love. Give me the wisdom to understand those things That is difficult to decipher. Give us clarity in our new chapters I’m not here to dig up skeletons of the past. But my curiosity makes me ask the question why my parents' marriage didn’t last? There are a lot of historical facts that were omitted from the family's photo album. I remember those childhood traumas, of domestic disputes with terrible outcomes. Not to disrespect my parents' relationship, I just wish they had at least remnants of a friendship. Co-parenting wasn’t an option. It was an ultimatum. At the age of five, I had to choose sides. Mom or Dad. Happy or sad. The divorce was ugly, It was a victory for my mom. it seemed like a battlefield, finally cleared. But the war was far from over. My dad left and I didn’t see him, until early adulthood. Those years of his whereabouts remain a mystery. Like torn pages from a worn book. I take a look, at my family’s history.

As I traced our ancestral progressions from savages to Human Beings. I’m observing gradual regressions in our society. If left unchecked, these problems could have serious implications for our future generations. Our technological advancements have pacified us from the harshest realities of the elements. Our arrogance has made us negligent. What if the economy was depleted of funding? The governments were permanently shut down. And there was no sovereign crowns. I couldn’t imagine waking up without my gadgets. In my opinion, what’s separates us from the beasts. I don’t think we would be able to survive a week if we didn’t have grocery stores to purchase food to eat. What if our transportation, communication and education ceased to exist? It would be a bumpy ride to survival. No more social media or Netflix and random individuals going viral. I couldn’t imagine not being able to shower, no clothing on my back. The body odor intensifies by the hour. I needed these bare necessities otherwise; my hygiene would be in jeopardy. The human population isn't prepared for this apocalypse. To make matters worse, No more Law enforcement or the frisking police. I predict Suicides, and random acts of violence would increase. The so-called CIVILIZED CITIZENS would destroy each other after-all we are descendants of animals. I hope that my neighbors are not cannibals. I can’t imagine a world so harsh that you could go insane. Our feeble minds aren’t designed to handle this much pain! We were created in the image of God, but we have fallen from grace. Our heaven on earth has been replaced. We turned to our creator, asking to be released from this place. We fought so vigorously to maintain our authority. Unfortunately, Darwin’s theory has failed. We searched our souls for solutions. What’s left of our population, is too stupid to formulate a remedy. There are no chemistry nor complex equations, and while we are dying. The beasts are multiplying. Devolution, the opposite of Evolution, has plagued our lands. We were once Divine entities that became complacent. Lurking in our basements were mutated viruses that nearly annihilated us Homo sapiens from the earth. We trembled in fear. We realized it doesn’t have to be an asteroid that’s going to take us out but a virus called COVID-19. We will rise from these ashes! We shall be victorious! Maintain your social distance. It's not a difficult task to wear your masks. Those critics who laughed in defiance must learn to Respect the laws of science!😊😂😅🎉😅😢❤❤😊😂😅🎉😮

My Love Just won’t stop! My Love just won’t stop! Hip-Hop! My love just won’t stop! My love just won’t stop! AYO ! I’m sorry Hip-Hop I really do miss you. We are no longer friends, but I really do want to kiss you. I thought it was over. I met someone new named Pop. She remixed my lifestyle but my love for you will never stop. A thug romance is what we had, it was sad IT WAS Real. Like cd’s that were burned I need you to cool down so your heart can heal. Every day I see you look much better. I still have our anniversary picture on the dresser. As I look at us the animosity becomes lesser. I should be thankful for what I got. She’s my second chance to advance while you forgot about me. She has a killer body, but to yours, it can’t compare. I can’t help but stare. My friends tell me that I got la crème of the crop. Don’t be stupid and mess things up with Pop. Hip-Hop I miss your complex similes and metaphors while Pop wants to go to the club and act like a horny whore in porn stores. She knows how to entertain, but becomes useless in situations dealing with real pains. I created this track for an attempt to get you back. Only you will be able to hear it. My lost love only you're able to touch and revive my spirits. Someone fine like you is destined to find romances that are new. I heard about the terrible news that he has put you through. I hate that guy, Punk Rocks. He has no class and he stinks like skunks. I pray to our creator why does he has to be so stupid. Maybe it's the negative content in the music. I saw Hop-hop unexpectedly and Lawd knows she looks great, with her banging 808's.I could barely think straight. My heart sunk into oblivion when I saw Punk by her side. That moment I reminisced of our romance, almost made me cry. During the times when she needed me while she was in misery. I was the artist that let you down. I was screwing a groupie named the Game to reach my great fortune and fame . After I found my success and I defeated the best the rest became history. As much as I want to come back to her. Pop is my bride, and I made vows never to leave her side. Pop made me famous, but some days I'm miserable her attitude can be so heinous. I love Pop there's nothing I won't do. But I have to remind you Hip-Hop my Heart belongs to you❤😊😂😅🎉😮❤

Beauty is a misconception. It's an idea based on someone's perception. The deception is in order to be beautiful, The individual has to have certain features or characteristics. And those who don't meet these standards are ugly statistics. Those poor and unfortunate souls who are on the bottom of the totem pole Are facsimiles of someone whom they consider to be beautiful. No worries if you have some money to spend. You too can become beautiful, by having botox ingestions, plastic surgeries, Brazilian butt-lifts and countless other procedures. Sadly I have to confess that my life is a mess. I’m only 26 years old and I’m stressed out to the extreme. My baby’s mama is The Terminator killing my dreams. We were supposed to be the next power couple, Unfortunately, she has another guy on her team. It seems that they are living Life better off without me. Raising my child is no longer My responsibility since she has been awarded full custody. When I walk into a room, I’m the laughing stock. When I try to reach out to my own child, I get blocked. I hate that she’s turning my child, Into an enemy. My child doesn’t want anything to do with me. The lies that she’s constantly spreading, Has tarnished my reputation from a caring father to a sad deadbeat dad. A deadbeat dad is the equivalent of being called a slut! My name is tarnished, and mentally I’m stuck in a rut. I’m delinquent in child-support payments. If I don’t figure something out, I would be the next guy sleeping out on the pavement. Everything is back to basic, I lived like a peasant in my parents’ basement.
