Such a great overview of the game, it's rules and components. If you are looking to buy Inis, this review is a must watch. Excellent job. My copy of Inis is on its way as a result of watching this.

A criticism that could be made for this game is that the timing of certain triskel cards is a bit ambiguous. A case in point would be the counter card Geis.

Your miniatures have crooked spears. If you put them in water that's close to boiling for a bit to let them soften up (like half a minute) (you can also just dip in the spear bit) they will probably straighten out quite a bit. You can very carefully straighten them more by hand. And then put them immediately in cold water. That's what I did and it worked for mine.

Seen quite a few inis reviews and this I think is the best one. There's no way I can find this game in my country so I decided to craft it myself. It is a relatively simple game with not many components and is often rated as one of the best games out there. I'm really looking forward to playing this. Unfortunatelly, I live in Brazil, so we probably won't be seeing other people to play until second semester of 2022.

This is one of those RARE cases where looking at a guy explaining a game is as good as him pointing at the bits and pieces on the board with an overhead camera at all times. I appreciate that! NOTE : Have you played Oath? Also, what is your favorite Combat Mechanic and in which Game?
@HowToRollDice2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I haven't played oath, though every single time I see it on the store shelf it calls to me. I just can't get over how big a let down Root was. I'm sure I'll give in one day. Also, Bryant and I just filmed a video on your "Favorite combat machanic" question. Should be up in about a week.

This is a great concise explanation about how to play the game. Would love to see some of the examples you mentioned played out on the board. Also... planning on expanding this with the seasons expansion?
@HowToRollDice3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I do plan on picking up seasons. They have a copy at one of my LGS. Just haven't gotten around to it. I always try to include as many shots of gameplay and components as I can, but the bottle neck is that I simply don't have the time. Since it's just me planning, filming, editing, and uploading, while working a full time job and having a family to take care of, I only have 2 or 3 hours a night to work on videos. As it is, it takes 3 or 4 nights to put things together and publish 1 video a week. So sometimes I just can't cover as much as I want to. Thanks for watching :)

Good tutorial but you take 4 cards out of the action deck when playing with fewer than 4 players. And in a 2 player game, both players end up with 6 action cards total. So there will always only be one action card set aside facedown every draft.

Great video! I have been debating on getting Inis, but I have a very important question: does it play well at 2 players? Again, awesome vid. Instant sub for me
@HowToRollDice3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion yes, assuming you and your opponent are okay with a bit more of a wargame feel. Obviously the drafting mechanic becomes a bit more straight forward, but because the board scales with the number of players, it keeps things feeling nice and tight, and gets you into the action right away. Thanks so much! Thanks for watching. And thanks for the sub!

nice video, made me wanna buy this game :), but before i do, can u explain difference between the two different versions(green/blue cover) thx in advance, keep it up!
@HowToRollDice4 жыл бұрын
I'm going to assume that the Green box that you are seeing is 'Seasons of Inis', which is an expansion for the base game that adds a bunch of new components, some new mechanics, and I believe support for a 5th player. The Blue box is the base game. There was also an earlier box design which shows a female warrior leading a group a explorers on the cover, though I believe that copy is out of print, and the only difference was the box art, the game was identical.

Great channel! One suggestion: it would be cool if you could show the pieces or even gameplay (even if it is not relevant to your talking) while you are talking.
@HowToRollDice4 жыл бұрын
Hey Moopies! Firstly, thanks for watching and subscribing. Much appreciated. Now do you mean show more game footage than I already do or show all game footage with no talking head (me) parts? I can certainly try to fit in more gameplay (this review was tricky because of how big the game is) but I don't think I'd want to completely remove myself. I like the face to face conversational aspect that it provides, almost like I'm sitting down with you and showing you the game in person, friend to friend.
@SekaiNoGaijin4 жыл бұрын
How To Roll Dice I just mean more game mixed in. :)
@HowToRollDice4 жыл бұрын
Totally. My goal is always to get as much footage of gameplay and game components into a review as possible, but it can be a little tricky because I'm working on my own. So I have to rely on handheld and tripod shots and it can be very time-consuming to set up the shot, adjust the lighting, position the game components, etc.. I am planning on capturing some actual gameplay by setting up a tripod in the room with my friends and I playing, I just haven't started that process yet. Hopefully for the next video though.

So is this basically the act of humans taking over? The last act based on a certain book, aka the book of invasions? I mean, glad it seems like more actual (irish iron age) celtic, and not post Christianity celtic. Non I know how come as close, other than having celtic Christianity under the guise it's "celtic" when in actuality it's Christianity. Still wished we got more Celtic games like this, MINUS humans. Nice review.
@HowToRollDice3 жыл бұрын
So I honestly had to look up the 'Books' you were referencing and had no Idea that those existed. Very interesting. From what little I Wiki'ed, it certainly seems like the creator may have drawn inspiration from them, or at the very least been aware of them. Though, clearly from my own experience, they don't exactly take front and center in gameplay, at least not for someone unaware of them. Thanks for the tip though. And thanks for watching. P.S. If you like this game, and want to check out other works by the same Designer, check out Cairn (as in Cairn Stone). Same Designer, also published by Matigot Editions, very differnt style of game (1v1 chess-like) but very enjoyable in my opinion. I'll have a review up on it within a month or 2 I'm sure, but I'll leave you with this: Druidic Rugby Chess.
@zionthedragon88663 жыл бұрын
@@HowToRollDice druidic chess? Aw yeah, looking forward to that!!! Huh. The human invasion just gave me da-sha-vue to the irish invasions, which is why I made the connection. Nice that this was taken with some creative liberties!!
