Here after the turkey-syria earthquake, I live in aleppo and we got hit like crazy, first thing i did was check my family, wait for the main quake and then RUN to an open field, we went to the closet roundabout and then we got picked up by a car to an even more empty are, stayed there for 5 hours because aftershocks happen frequently and if the building is damaged from the first hit any other quake would collapse it. So please if you find yourself in a similar situation (i hope u won't ever) take cover, wait for the main quake, and run to the nearest open space as fast as u can, be sure not to go in between small areas with a lot of buildings, stay safe y'all

As a person who lives in the Caucasus I can confirm that we survive daily earthquakes and the best tip is not to panic. If you live in a tall building here's some good tips too: If you live below Floor 4 get out of the building asap, If you live above floor 4 - stay.

I’ve been in an Earthquake(Haiti2010) the best way to survive is to not panic and go crazy, you should carefully go to an open field, where there’s no houses or buildings. A soccer or football field is usually the best option. A lot of people died during an earthquake because they got scarred and run into places that weren’t suppose to go to during the an earthquake because they’re scared. It’s human nature to go home tans lock the doors to keep oneself safe which is understandable but sadly being home or in any building won’t help.

There are 3 different types of seismic waves at the start the first are p waves they can go through solids, liquids and gas and are very fast, second are S waves (shear waves) they move slower but are more destructive they can go through solids only, last are surface waves these are like shear waves but trapped @ the surface idk too to much about this I can’t remember my classes

Hiding under your desk, while in a earthquake is a bad idea, because let’s say the school is getting destroyed and the desk is outside then, the desk would not be safe to hide. earthquakes can destroy the desk in Seconds or minutes
