This is a charming trailing Hoya known as Hoya curtisii or commonly as tiny-leaf porcelain flower. Personally it reminds me of string of hearts, which is a Ceropegia and in the same family as Hoya. This plant takes the 66th spot in "365 Days of Plants".
In this video I go over some basic care tips including where this plant grows natively, where I'm growing it in my home, propagation, watering, lighting and more.
You can check out more of these videos here and on my IGTV @homesteadbrooklyn.

I got this plant it was dying and in a tiny pot, I give it a trim and kept all the trimmings, I re-potted main plant in a 19cm tub after a few days under a grow light and some decent nutrients this is thriving really fast, in less than a week my trimmings have rooted in new pots giving me many new plants of this. I'm not really a grower I just took up the hobby I'm learning about things as I go. I have noticed this loves to be under grow light at 60% light. New shoots will appear rapidly. I used coco soil instead of a potting mix and I thought I'd regret it but this is really doing well thanks for your tips 😊

Awesome! I just picked up one of these from my local Lowe's and it is in a 6 inch pot and super full and lush, I have it in a north east facing window about a foot away from the window, and so far she seems happy, but I will watch her closely cause I really love this plant. Thanks again Summer for the growing tips on this beauty, loving this series so much.

@@Doyoufeelboneeta It was 24.95, a bit on the pricey side, but the last hoya they had was a crimson princess and I didn't pick it up and I have been mad at myself ever since, so I jumped at this hoya for sure.

I got one of these from Costa Farms. The tag says the plant’s origin is the Philippines. But then again, a lot of hoyas species originally came from the Philippines, Borneo, and now they are becoming more available to the rest of the world thanks to farms like Costa Farms and a lot of Florida growers.

So thankful for your Plant A Day videos, Summer! I just got one of these, and I don't water it too often. Once every week and a half maybe? But every time I water, I have a couple of leaves turn totally yellow! Any ideas why? What's the best way to water this sweet little hoya? Thanks! :)
@HurricaneFluttershy
@HurricaneFluttershy 2 жыл бұрын
I suggest waiting when you feel the leaves feel a bit weak (indicates less water is being stored in the leaves) and until the soil is completely dry :)

Also when i water I completely soak the plant in a shower or sink, make sure it isn’t sitting in water tough and has a drainage hole.

Oh wow, so cute! Adding this to my list. About fertilizing- I bought the Espoma Organic indoor one that I saw you use in another video. I read that waiting a month after buying a plant to let it settle before starting to fertilize is a good idea, and I've had my first Hoya for about that long. Do you think it's a good time to start fertilizing? Is every two weeks a good schedule for my Hoyas and Peperomias during the spring and summer? I love your videos- you've helped me to keep my plants very very happy! Thank you so much!

What is the best way to water a very full hanging basket? I bottom watered my ruby cascade but it seems to be staying wet far to long and some of the leaves have died in the center of the top which is what I was trying to avoid to begin with. Can you please do a video on this subject?

I had a beautiful one of these and barely touched it for a year and it did fine until I found out it was a hoya and that supposedly they are very fragile. At that point I began fussing over it and thought I killed it. I divided off the healthy bits and have them potted up, they've done fine for 6 months now but now much growth. There was only 1 rooted strip and the rest were just healthy stem cuttings about 6 inches long. What should I be doing to encourage growth? Would a bathroom skylight be a good fit over the winter? Seems like skylights could be turned into mini greenhouses but I never hear of people having this same idea so I wonder if I'm missing some fatal flaw about the concept lol

I've heard it's easy to root, but I'm not having very good luck at all. I had 6 cuttings and only one or two are still alive. I had some in soil and some in water. I'm going to try better light and humidity now.

@@SalemHill full sun is usually considered at least 6 hours. So 3-4 hours a day would be half sun. I do wonder myself though. My backyard gets dappled light all day... Is that half sun too? Do I measure the dappled shadows and calculate the shade to light ratio? 😂😂😂
