I joined a local Facebook group for plants and I’ve been able to find Hoya cuttings for free and it makes me so happy to see people sharing 🥰

I feel as though plant prices are in the decline for multiple reasons: *some folks got into plants during lock-down, got overwhelmed with their collections and they are selling them off *market is oversaturated with sellers *fewer buyers due to people getting back to "real life" and don't have as much time to plant shop *people like me who have a massive collection and more selective about what they purchase and what they are willing to pay

Plant prices are allll dropping like crazy! Not just Hoya, but I feel hoyas are still pretty pricey. But I could get a full 2in pot of philo pink princess right now in my local shop for 50$! So crazy! Not a cutting, but a whole, 4-6 leaf rooted plant. I am so glad I waited to buy expensive plants until the prices dropped! I can't wait for them to keep lowering! I believe prices are going down dramatically because ppl r back to work, not buying house plants anymore. No one has the time for it any more. So I am so happy to see prices going down!! Fingers crossed they go alot lower then where they r now! Thanks for sharing! I love Hoya as well!! They r beautiful, easy, and so fun to try to get flowers! Love my super chill hoyas!

Yes I’ve also noticed that they’re dropping! Hoya Serpens used to be a lot more here in Canada but they’ve gone down to about $60ish (still too much for me haha- I feel like I’d end up killing it anyway). Philodendron pink princess prices have also dropped too! I’ve seen full plants go for under $50 these days!

I am with you. I imported a serpens and it was in badddddd shape. I tried to rescue it but yeah, it went downhill pretty fast. I have two leaves that are probably not going anywhere sitting in the prop box and I am just going to let it sit there. The leaves are green (two) but that is about it. I will see but I soooo wanted this plant and just cannot let it go.

im ready for the prices to drop down! i remember when i was 13 i could order serpens cuttings for like $20, and every other hoya was like $10-$15. left the plant community for a while and came back with covid and just gotta say the prices are TOOOO much. far far too much.

I bought my hoya serpens on Ebay for 5€ last year (I live in Germany) and I was so happy! You can get them here for usually about 15€ for a small plant :) (if you can find one!) It's still rooting in perlite because I'm too afraid it will die on me when I repot it :D But in general it's really hard to find Hoyas here, unfortunately very few shops sell them. You have to rely on private sellers if you want to grow your collection!

Hey! I'm from the Netherlands and there are a few webshops here that sell a lot of cool hoyas - and they ship to Germany for sure! I have a list of recommended shops etc on my website - tho I don't know if Alessya will like me promoting my own website on her comment section 🙄❤️

i keep my hoya serpens in a very chunky coco coir mixture (coco coir, pumice, perlite, orchid bark & charcoal) and i keep it in a lil glass terrarium which the humidity stays around 70-80% high and it is thriving. i think the key to a happy serpens is high humidity imo. but i hope you get yours hands on one again someday. i absolutely adore mine :)

I got about 60 new hoyas and cuttings in about 3 months. I was also uber obsessed with mites the past month. in all of this chaos, I ignored my big well established Hoyas. I gave my 5 foot kerri, variegated obavata, Latifloia marg, Australis, and several others root rot. I think I let them get too dry, they weren't in the best soil ,and then didn't deep water. So yah, my new plants are doing better than my old ones. And now they are chopped to prop and start over!

I’m glad to see Hoya prices getting more reasonable again. I got into the hobby right before it exploded during the pandemic and it’s been crazy to watch. I recently lost my Hoya curtisii to rust 💔 but today I found a giant one at a big box store! I hope you’re as lucky 😘 Thanks for another fun video, Alessya! 💚

Prices are going down in Canada a bit, but what I have noticed even more is how hard it is for someone to sell a plant on Facebook Marketplace. Even in the summer, a "rare" plant would be posted for sale and sold the same day....that does not seem to be happening, so maybe prices will drop, but i feel there is too much supply and very little demand right now.

H. Caudata does fine for me in SE window and room temperature and humidity. I have it in soil and heavy perlite. Its grown so much and flowered. Maybe u r over thinking them. Try again and good luck!

100% agree about the Serpens and THANK YOU for saying it. We all have to tip toe around “price shaming” in the plant community but what people were asking for 2-3 nodes….I mean, cmon🙄 I do have a 2 node cutting I got lucky and found for $10 per node. Once I have a lil more $ I’ll be hitting up that seller again lol

Oddly I found Deykeae is quite easy I have two…the other one is the Aceh one, thinner, longer, and brighter….put them in Aroid potting mix, water them once in two days. They do fine… i found the softer leaves ones are harder, because they dont like to be overwatered, rains in the tropic is very heavy…sadly.

I keep killing caudata too. I don’t think I’ll try again either. I have chinghungensis and serpens cuttings! Message me if you’re up for a trade!

Sorry you Lost some of your favourite hoyas. Glad to hear that prices are coming down, however, shipping is going up up up so good for local buying but buying online you will have to pay more in shipping so may be a wash. Remains to be seen....Love your videos!

Hoya soidaensis: I have one and I love it, but it is very small (4 leaves). I have two peduncles. One blasted and the other one looks like it will bloom. I have seen hoya chinghungensis on ebay in the past month.

i've noticed not only prices dropping online, but things selling out slower than before. even at my local rare plant shops, hoya are lingering on shelves longer and even ended up in clearance sections more. seems the houseplant craze is starting to shift away from hoya...
