Hoyt customers : We want the buffalo

For whatever reason the factory plastic grip on the Hoyt Satori seems to be causing me to get a nasty blister on my right thumb knuckle at the base of the joint. Any suggestions of what to do? Seems to be a flawed design which forces your hand into a high grip position and causes your knuckle to grind underneath the bottom of the plastic grip.

Hey Boys, I purchased a buffalo at a huge $1100 Australian. It is the worst experience I ever wasted money on. It’s loud, the finish is poor, the string was to short and the wood grip didn’t fit flush. The cost for different limbs is outrageous. I emailed Hoyt and they didn’t give a stuff. So boys what is the chances of me purchasing that bow?????? Well it’s zero. All Hoyt has done is change from that stupid formula design to ILF. And Fred try to relax, your not the engineer, your talking to your audience like we are all stupid. Regards Robert. Greetings from Australia.
@dylanm81455 жыл бұрын
Hi, also from Australia. I’ve got a collection of four buffalos and four satoris in every combination so I’m very confident in my opinion on this topic, I also have a large collection of other bows from different companies. Honestly the price isn’t that expensive for an American made bow with this level of adjustability. Any other American-made bow in this class cost the same if not more. The finish is perfectly acceptable especially the Maple limbs and the powder coat is very durable. There is a world of difference between the Buffalo and the Satori. Buffalo -only shoot from the shelf -formula dovetail -zero Limb pocket adjustability -only one size 19 inch riser -no quiver/sight mount on the side Satori -shelf or Flipper rest -ilf pockets -limb pocket left to right -three different size rises -drilled mounting holes Completely different bows and I think the satoris finish has improved over the buffalo. The bow is no more noisier than any other bow, you need some common sense and know how to be able to tune it. Even the win-win black wolf needs tuning to reduce noise and I found it to be much louder I honestly think this is why Hoyt didn’t take you seriously, what you’re saying doesn’t make any sense.
@ericbaumgartner57427 жыл бұрын
Looks very similar to the buffalo which is about as noisy as a bow can be. If your draw is more than 30 " no amount of string silencers or large 8.5" brace height will take the twang out. Sounds like a dry fire. Heads will turn at a range, that loud really. My Hoyt Gamemaster was the same. If you let someone with a 29-30" draw shoot it , its not bad but 31" draw sounds like a dry fire
@thomaschristener92646 жыл бұрын
Eric Baumgartner Try Bodnik bows germany. Ok, they are lightweight, but smooth to draw, strong on the shoot and very silent. My Mowhawk feels like silk and shoots like a rocket, accurate and fine. Find a bearpaw dealer and try it out! ...if you like light weight wooden bows😉.
@ericbaumgartner57426 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice, i have had a Bodnik but they are so light in the hand that i cant shoot them well. Bought an inexpensive Chinese made black hunter and it shoots fantastic and is heavy enough to be stable in the hand. Also the Bodnik slick stick i had needed to have the limb tips sanded out to allow for a 31" draw. The sharp edge would eat the string loop in a week if not altered. If you get a chance to try the black hunter and compare with the mowhawk you be very impressed for less than half the price.
@robertschuitema15776 жыл бұрын
It sounds to me like you needed to adjust tiller. I've shot several buffaloes and once the tiller was adjusted for my crawl, it was as quiet as anything else out there besides a one piece longbow.
@ericbaumgartner57426 жыл бұрын
Do you draw it back 31" ? Thats where the problem starts. Up to 29-30 " is fine.
@amirulazmi12946 жыл бұрын
lol. Because you already reach maximum draw length.. if u still want to draw much longer then u gonna need a new & longer limbs

Hoyt doesn't just throw a bow out there? But they SURE cut bows out! NOW... NO Gamemaster.... NO Darado... NO Tiburon!!! It's their way or the highway. Satori or NOTHING. One thing about this bow that's good.... ILF limbs! Hoyt has good stuff... but they need to make... different grips for this bow, maybe a low, med. and high grip like they do for their target recurves. Oh, and why not make a riser that will accept the target recurve grips they ALREADY make? With my experience with the Tiburon... only 1 grip available .... Can you purchase the new style side plate from Hoyt... by itself??? That should be available too as a purchase-able part. At least this bow does come in the different riser lengths. Doubt if I will ever buy one.

One issue I have with the Satori, is that you the plate does not allow for a true center shot. I have a set of Hex limbs, kzbin.info/www/bejne/npe9koWlj9uMd68 and those limbs actually prefer to be shot directly down the center, and unlike an Olympic bow that prefers the point be set just outside the string, I have to remove the plate and set up my own (round furniture felt pad). Those spacers are useless in this respect. What I'm trying to point out, is that the side plate should have been set to allow true center shot to start. I've tried sanding the back side of the plate to bring it down to center, but it's crazy annoying to have to modify the equipment like that. Only wish the Hoyt folks could provide an option for a truly center allow side plate. Wishful thinking?
