For some odd reason this song sounds like a father who lost his love and he has to raise their daughter on his own and they are both recovering from this lost. This song is my absolute favourite after a horrible pregnancy. I lost 10kg because of HG, I could barely move because my baby took all off the nutrients I had in my body. The birth took 28 hours and I lost a lot of blood. I truly believe that my man is the only reason that I survived all of it. He was there when I couldn’t take care of myself, and he was the only one that managed to calm me down in the delivery room, and he is the one who delivered our baby. He is everything I could have dreamed of and so much more, and now he is the best father for our little girl who looks and acts just like him. So I got some colour back, and she thinks so too. I laugh like me again and she laughs like the man I love with all of my heart ❤️

My favorite part about Hozier's albums is his mother paints them (or atleast this one) and I think it's the sweetest thing 🥺💖

This song is sunshine and laughing and pulling another person close to you This song is getting caught in the rain and watching all the cotton candy melt on their mouth This song was a sad freedom wrapped up in a façade of grace It was longing and desire and the little bit of shadow that clings to every ray of sunshine Its being comfortable in your own space and realizing the sunshine is just as beautiful when its just you who its shines on

He is a genius. This song is composed of song titles from the greats over the last 60 years. [Verse 1] I came in from the outside Burnt out from the joy ride She likes to roll here in my ashes anyway Played from the bedside Is “Stella By Starlight” “That Was My Heart”… The drums that start off “Night And Day” [Pre-Chorus 1] The same kind of music haunts her bedroom I’m almost me again, she’s almost you [Chorus] I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me [Verse 2] Tell me who, and I’ll be thanking them The numbered lovers of Duke Ellington Do I owe each kiss to lip and cheek as soft As Chet can sing “Let’s Get Lost” And “Let The Good Times Roll” Let “Smoke Rings” from this “Paper, Doll” Blow sweet and thick ’til every thought of “It Don’t Mean A Thing” [Pre-Chorus 2] I’ve got some colour back, she thinks so, too I laugh like me again, she laughs like you [Chorus] I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me [Bridge] I wouldn’t know where I wouldn’t know where I wouldn’t know where, I wouldn’t know where I wouldn’t I wouldn’t know where I wouldn’t know where I wouldn’t know where, I wouldn’t know where I wouldn’t know [Verse 3] “The Very Thought Of You” and “Am I Blue”? “A Love Supreme” seems far removed “I Get Along Without You Very Well,” some other nights The radio news reader chimes Reporting “Russian Lullabies” She’ll turn to me awake and ask, Is everything “Alright” [Chorus] I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me [Chorus] I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me I wouldn’t know where to start “Sweet Music” playing “In The Dark” Be still “My Foolish Heart,” Don’t ruin this on me

at this point i just gave up on trying to listen to someone else other than him.every melody and lyrics sounds so...real.raw.full of love and feelings.so natural. it's almost as if going back to real life is very painful after listening to his music.it makes me so happy and sad at the same time, how can someone and music he creates can be so powerful and beautiful.thank you so much for making my life both amazing and horrible.

He brings to mind Albrecht Durer, not exactly a likeness, but I'd really like to see a painting of Hozier's hands. They're a masterpiece in their own right, that also create art as well.

I love all the jazz references! He said he listens to a lot of jazz but that it doesn't necessarily come through in his music, I guess this is his answer to that... A Love Supreme I Get Along without You Very Well The Very Thought of You Duke Ellington Chet Baker Paper Doll - just to name a few! Great artists pull inspiration from everywhere!
