My i5-cs0053cl is identical to this, but doesn't have the dual fan setup...but it has the space for it. Has anyone upgraded to the dual fan that is shown on this video? I know 2 fans would be louder but also cooler I'd think...

My upgrade went as per your demo except the recovery step process failed at about 10%. I was able to hook up the old HD via a USB housing and clone it to the SSD. Everything works great and the PC is nice and "snappy fast". :) Thank you very much for posting this. Fantastic demo.

The SATA ribbon cable is reletively easy to remove from the motherboard, Just lift up on the retaining tab and pull it out. I'd recommend you do this before attempting to pull the harddrive out and disconnecting the main SATA end. Less likely to damage cable/motherboard connector. ;)

A recovery drive will only restore the OS, if you want the contents of the entire drive you have to clone it. Clonezilla is free Samsung Magician is free too but you need to clone to Samsung drives. Acronis True Image work well but you need a paid version unless it comes with your new drive.

Hook It Up Ubuntu Linux, it's an open source operating system. Others are having us setup Windows 10 with Linux environments pre-installed that can work with their Linux servers. I can't blame them. It's free and you can study and modify the software itself to meet your needs/wishes. You control your computer again, vs Microsoft controlling your stuff. it's good stuff!

Your service manual can be found here: support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-n100-notebook-pc-series/5436989/model/6422017/manuals... page 84 mentions " The hard drive cable is part of the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, part number 732071-001."

Hello, I have a question. Can the RAM be upgraded too. Is there a slot for it and if so how much and what brand would you recommend

Yes! I just upgraded to 2x8GB. Same removal obviously but watch out. On my model the base was attached to the main body via a connector which I didn't know about and I gave it a tug which wasn't great. Memory replacement then had to be done with the base propped open so I could use two hands. Try to pry open the two springs either side of each slot both to remove old and insert new RAM.

Clear, right to the point. I like the different angle recording, well done. I just have a small question here. Is it okay if i rely on the partition recovery located in my hard drive instead of making another one on an external drive? ( I couldn't access the "create recovery drive" setting for some reason, it does not open at all)

thanks for such an amazing video on SSD upgradation, but should't we loss the W10 license or key for the original one ? also can we use the NVME M.2 for C drive ?

your welcome, you shouldn't lose the key if you make a recovery drive first.

No, you loose the key only with a new mainboard. However it's faster cloning the whole disk.

Hi, where would files be stored on this laptop if it didn’t have a hard drive? I have, I think the same model but it has no drive. Had it a long time and it isn’t booting up properly and I’d like to get some files. Hope I can get it sorted

It could possibly have an m.2 ssd. It should be located slightly north of the hard drive slot.

Hey, how do I get to know if my laptop has an ssd slot? The Pavilion you used in this video, does it have an M.2 slot?

hi, thanks for the video, its very well explained. i have a hp pavilion 15-cs2033ni, with a crucial 500gb NvMe, 32gb RAM ( also crucial ), i was trying to add an additional ssd (Samsung 860 pro - 500gb). on doing this the system doesn't start. on pressing "ESC" i get the message at the bottom left of the screen "but" there is no BIOS menu on the screen. on taking out the Samsung ssd, the system is normal. could please you assist with this problem

You need to press f10 to enter the bios menu. That's the button on my hp pavilion 15-cs laptop. From there I think you know what to do: just reorder the boot order so that the nvme comes before the new Samsung ssd. Was the ssd slot empty before you added the ssd? What connector did you use? That might also be the problem.
