I just bought my girlfriend and I each one of these yesterday with the touch screen for $199 each at walmart and very pleased especially with android apps available out the box after simple OS update. The screen on this is actually underrated. I've had macbooks for years now and the screen on this $200 laptop blows my $1,000 2015 macbook air screen out of the water. The MacBook Air has a notoriously awful screen though all other Mac products have beautiful screens.

Still using this chromebook for school and I’ve got to say, its quite durable as it can withstand being constantly taken out of and put back into a bag (and sometimes, books placed on it but don’t do it pls). Battery life is ok and can last at least one day of usage without needing to charge. Performance wise, it’s still fine loading up webpages decently fast. The touchscreen functionality is also fine.

My main problem with it is that the rubber bezel around the edge of the screen could melt and peel off.

Robby - I purchased this a week ago after seeing your story about it being available at Best Buy. You captured the strengths and the weaknesses well. The track pad is the weakest point. The keyboard is loud by not the worst. Overall, it is a decent value.

I needed one for work and school but didnt want to spend a lot of money and luckily found a used one for 100 which is good because there were a bunch of lesser performing Chromebooks for 50 dollars more.

I can't stand mine. It sucks. I'm the administrator of my Chromebook and I can't even sign in to my own computer. Sometimes it will let me and for the most part of me owning it I've signed in three times. On the line where it says password there is a red triangle there. And when I go to put my password in a white Chromebook page that pops up and asks for my password and I sign my password and it is saying that not the right password. Then when I try to recover it it won't let me recover my password

I don't think this computer model is the actual problem, but maybe your computer itself. I have had mine for about a month now, and it works so well. I have never encountered that problem. I'd contact warranty or support because if nothing is wrong (Internally) with the computer, maybe they (HP) could fix it. I think you might have to maybe just reset everything.

i have a hp 14 g4 and its very good aswell. its hard to find these in brazil so finished buying the 1366x768. its serving me so well since then. i use it even to adjust raw images on ubuntu

is the screen on g5 comparable to Acer R11 color wise? Also ,does it get hot after light use? I just got a Hp x360 with Intel Pentium and 4g ram. It gets really hot, is leggy and the sound through headphone jack is horrendous. Is this g5 or the Acer R11 a better buy? I also plan to run Linux.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday.. I’ve had it on the charger this yesterday night. It doesn’t seem like it’s charging and when it’s on the charger sometimes it just shuts off and when I unplug it it shuts off like it doesn’t wanna stay on by it self. I don't think any laptops at this pricepoint are backlit, but you could ask about it at a tech store like best buy or microcenter before buying. This one, if I remember correctly, is not backlit on the keyboard

Once you updated the Chromebook to the developer channel of Chrome OS, you can see that the Google Play Store has been added. Once you open the icon, you sign in with your Gmail account (if you have one), and wait for a minute or so. Then, you can install Android apps after the demo about the app. (Requires Chrome OS 56 or higher

Mine actually had the same thing, I think that HP is not planning to have the Google Play Store on the next update. I actually have my own research and this Chromebook is "planned" to have Android apps.

It thinks it is either a software issue with Google or a malfunction to include Android apps. If you update your Chromebook to Chrome OS 60, the Google Play Store is back. So, I think it is either a hardware or software which leads to the result of the Play Store vanishing.

I haven't upgraded my Chromebook yet, still on my ages old CB3 531 after giving an HP laptop that ran windows a try and it cooking itself.
