I'm getting ready to replace my dual Xeon E5-2620 v2 (2.0 Ghz - 8 Core) processors for dual Xeon E5-2697 v2 (2.7 Ghz - 12 core) processors and I am slightly disappointed that the blue bracket guides for the CPU are glued on. That was my only concern heading into this job. I like to stay as factory as possible but I am not going to use anything that might melt in extreme heat. Thanks for making this video. This is a very useful video.

I'm glad the video helped. I hear you that it would be nicer if the blue guides were not attached to the original processors, but I've been running mine constantly for 2+ years without any problems. I'm sure it will work out for you.

I had upgraded my dual e5-2609 to dual e5-2660 v2, I neatly placed the new CPUs onto the socket without those guides. The CPUs and sockets still have socket guides. As long as you place the tension from down nicely. It works.

Thanks it was very helpful. After the update, the new processors worked, but the array card (p420i) disappeared from the system. I cannot see it in the Bios and iLo interface. Do you have information ?

No. I didn't run into any problems like that. I would think something get knocked loose while you were inside, but I'm sure you looked into that.

@@rickpuccio5955 Yes, I definitely researched for hours. The problem is caused by the newly installed processors. After changing the processors the problem was solved. Interesting. For your information.
