I've done warranty work for several of the big name computer companies and just recently started with HP, which is why I watched your video. I do appreciated the lack of crappy music and that it's just "this is the machine coming apart" aspect. My only complaint is the tools you've chosen to use. The screws on laptops are so easy to strip that using an electric screw driver on them is a huge no no, as well as the use of the pocket knife to pry open the plastics. If I were to use either tactic on site, my company would fire me in a heartbeat.

Charles Jackson I am really appreciate your comment. On the other hand that's why I do not work for anybody, cuz I am free and can do anything I want. But I also realize that the use of a screwgun in my videos can lead to a problem if some newbie will take a laptop apart and f up everything with screwgun. WIll be sucks.

Hi, nice to here that! :) I use a little magnet. Or keep bits on the magnet and they stay magnetized for a while... Usually small magnet. Some magnets can damage motherboard, so I use very light one. And trying to not to contact board.

See. First of all, I give props for the effort. I use a 2760p which is similar to this build. I have been trying to take off the keyboard for a while now but everytime the Keyboard frame bends rather than come straight off after unhooking it from the panel close to the monitor. Is there a particular trick for removing the keyboard pleas?

Hey Regazzz, great video. I have an hp elitebook 2760p and I guess they mine is more or less the same model as 2730P and the arrangement of the components is the same. I just need to clean the cooler because it is completely blocked by dust. Is it enough just to unscrew the keybord to reach the cooler from the top or do I have to go all the way and remove almost everything before getting there? I saw that cooler is right before the screen part. So there is a bit of trouble or? Thank you in advance.

Hey for the people here to replace your broken screens you if you haven't bought your screen yet you could buy a 2710p for parts off of eBay for $30. You would save around $100. The two screens are interchangeable and all you would have to do is swap out the digitizer (shown in the l last part of the video). Also there are other parts you could benefit from save the palm rest bezel such as my 2730p did not come with a camera but the 2710p did so I just a added it to mines as they're the same.

I can upload a video on how to remove only a keyboard in 2740p - which is similar to this one. It can give you some idea. I think you just need to use something flat, but not a screwdriver, because it can bend this aluminum part of a keyboard.

If camera not working, it is either connection issue or bad camera or bad camera cable. Or it is missing some drivers. As you can see, there are plenty of possibilities and reasons why it can't work.

Hey, you probably already found an answer, but my answer is no, because there are different connectors sitting on it and they will not match.

Can be anything. Start with drivers. After than troubleshoot hardware.

It depends, but most likely you would need to use the same type, unless there is space and if it was designed to use another type of drive.

+Ka Na I would make sure all drivers and everything up to date. Try with different cable, different external monitor. If nothing helps, replacing a motherboard can be an option, unfortunately VGA port is on the motherboard and not replaceable.

Did u find solution? EDIT: I think i do. After looking for a solution I found an adaptator for the speciat type of hardrive of this laptop to msata hardrives, so we can put an ssd there :)

please use real tools to disassemble pc hardware :/ these are fragile and can break easly, i only use screwdriver to make sure not to overtork them when i screw them back and also, a swiss army knife isn't a good tools to pry open a screen, you should use plastic triangles that are made for that(look like guitar pic) with that, first of all, your videos will look more professional and will also show the "correct" way to do it without risking of scratching it/breaking it p.s. if you want to get on a more professional level for your video, i would also suggest to disassemble and re-assemble the hardware Right before the recording, like that, it will be fresh in your memory and we wont see you trying to figure out the next step to remove This or That Piece of Hardware :p Other that that, Thanks, your video helped a lot :)

man, this REALLY sucks. iwas thinking about buying a 2760p. i AM an 2540p owner, and it really sucks to change the fan. i did it three years ago and had to disassemble the whole computer. so i think this convertible ones are the same crap. i saw the repair PDF and it was horrible. so i think, i better buy a 2560p or 2670p, where its really easy to change or clean the fan....

+regazzz finally - got my 2560p today for a nice price. threw out the old 250GB HDD and put a 480 GB SSD inside. think i`ll put also some more memory inside, but its really comfortable to work with it so far ^_^ ...
