+Andrew Tran Gta v runs at 20 Frames..is that the lowest it'll go or will it go lower? I just want a laptop with gta v being it's peak you know? Gta v and lower is my goal. Right now I can't even play MINECRAFT without lagging. (I hate my laptop..4 RAM and Intel graphics..Pentium hard drive) Any suggestions?

I had two questions about this laptop. I just got it today and i'm trying to get use to it but it seems like a huge upgrade from my last laptop which was also a HP. I mainly just want help on better understanding the bottom touch-pad as i've always been use to using the left and right buttons on it to substitute for left and right clicking but this one seems to not have that feature. My other question is why does the keyboard lock up for a few seconds after using the same letter or number key instead of smooth running while typing? Sorry if these questions sound dumb but i'm not much of a computer guy (or at least I don't know much about them even though I use them alot) lol.

I have the same laptop and it runs GTA 5 at high settings with about 25 fps, i only changed the hard drive with an 1 tb 7200 rpm, i've been also playing shadow of mordor with the old hard drive at medium to maximum at also 20-to 30 fps.

I get a ENVY 17 2015 Version with non-touch screen. Specs: i7-5500U 2.4Ghz Dual. NVIDA GTD 850M 4GB Video Memory. When running GTA V with medium high graphic settings, it performs well with a FPS 35. So I would say ENVY17 is acceptable for most games with high settings. I love this laptop so much not only for its acceptable gaming performance but also its stunning design -- sometimes you would think you are using a MacBook Pro to play video games , cuz its design is pretty much similar to Apple Laptop.

I wish HP hadn't gone exclusively with the low voltage i7 dual cores in their Envy line. Those cpu's are weak and aren't a good match for a full size desktop replacement like the M7. It's like putting a V6 in a full size pickup. This would be an awesome editing laptop with a hyperthreaded quad core i7 like the 4800 and better graphics hardware.

Just watched this vid. Appreciate the overview. I'm looking at the HP Envy 17.3" M7-u009dx, which is different than what you reviewed. The only things I could see that were different was the DVD player on the one I'm looking at is on the left, not the right. And, the one I'm looking at has HD Graphics 520 added to the Nvidia dedicated 2gb card. That's what Best Buy said. Any differences you might know between these two would be helpful. Thanks, nice job. Minecraft will play fantastic on high settings (But at medium render distance). Skyrim will play ok. And CS:GO will play on medium settings super smooth. If you have a good WiFi connection you can play CS:GO on high settings at 32 fps with minor hicups. Honestly if you can upgrade the graphics card to the nvidia geforce 840m it is worth it.

I have an hp envy 15t laptop. My specs are an 5th Gen Intel Core i7-5500U Dual Core Processor + NVIDIA GeForce 840M with 2Gb of discrete graphics with 8 Gb of ram and a 1Tb hard drive and a 1920 x 1080p display. I can basically play anything I want flawlessly at medium settings and I got it for $650 before Tax. to answer your question I will say you will do just fine with most games at low to medium setting at 26-32 fps. My laptop is overkill for what I do with it. I think your laptop is fantastic just dont spend over $600.

Why on earth do they put a dual core processor in this tank of a laptop.

I know that the price is Ok, but for 999 you should get at least 128gb ssd, don't you think? The problem is... 999 for this HP or 999 for a macbook air people will always choose Apple Products. I really know that 12gb of ram is a plus and 1080p also but for office tasks, web and videos 4gb of ram is enough. Overall I really like HP products. I am a HP user since a while and I am very happy specially with probook line.

Nicolás Jafelle Yes, but the Macbook Air is smaller and it does not have a dedicated GPU. HP could of put a 128GB SSD but that is too small for a multimedia laptop. Many average consumers would prefer the 1TB slower hard drive over the faster smaller 128GB SSD.
