Hi Tom, Below it is part of the email that I received from HP yesterday (12 July 2022 at 6pm). "Repair charges would be applicable since unit’s warranty has expired. Having shared above, as much as we understand your disappointment, I have to assure you that we will give our best on the concerns raised. As shared, I am already working with our parts planners to verify parts availability \ sourced as an exception. Once availability is confirmed, will work on the cost involved and be rest assured, will try best to see even if any discounts applicable as exception."

I keep calling them up but they keep telling me that it’s a paid repair. I still have Care plan warranty but I believe that it’s a manufacturing problem like you said because I didn’t even drop it or anything!! Any ideas how I should go about this for a free repair??

How much is the hinges warrenty like it's 2 years or it depends on open and close system

It depends of the warranty that you have with HP. Most cases 1 year.

i was going to buy it but thank god i saw your video and will NOT BUY this laptop. Same problem occurred to my hp envy few days ago. Now I got no option other than to repair it myself because the region where I’m in there’s no hp service center. My device is still in warranty but can not claim it. This comment is also for new hp buyers”please don’t buy hp laptops”

Sorry to read that. If the repair is too costly, I advise you to buy a new laptop. Few customers got it repaired and their unit broke again.

Is it possible that the hinges grew stiff because it isn't used heavily? Maybe if you open and close the laptop, and use it in tablet mode maybe 10 times more than you did, the hinges won't be as stiff and won't puncture the display?

Hi. No it is definitely a manufacturing defect from HP. I received more than 50 messages from customers having the same issue. Have a look on my others videos to see clearly the defect.

Is the new 2022 Envy 13 Intel 12th gen using the same hinge design?

Yes exactly same design for the chassis and hinge. The difference are the hardwares (i.e. processor). Then if you have or buy the new model, you take a risk.

Does the display and hinge cover in one year onsite warranty

It is covered. And as I mentioned in the video, whatever the warranty is expired or not, the product has manufacturing defect from conception. This is issue is reported since 2017 on previous Envy models. HP is aware of the problem but HP tries to not repair it for free.

Call Hp customer service and push push. My case has been resolved that way. It took a month. It was a struggle.
