I have run the HP Envy x360 and the Spectre x360 through 14+ creator focused benchmarks covering video editing in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, motion design, graphic design, photo editing, and more. Which one should you buy?

Kicking things off with the build quality, the Envy x360 and the Spectre x360 both come in all-aluminum chassis designs. Each totes its own unique styling with the Spectre showing off its regal design aesthetics--deep gray surfaces with gold trimmed beveled edges, this laptops is in a category of its own.
The Envy x360 takes a more classical approach with its silver aluminum surfaces and smooth beveled edges. If you’re looking for discrete professionalism I would go for the Envy x360, but if you want to show off a little then go for the Spectre x360.
As far as the durability is concerned the Hp Spectre seems slightly more rigid than the Envy x360, but barely more. The top cover and bottom cover seem ever so slightly (and I really mean slightly) thicker than the Envy x360.
But I will say that the classic shape of the Envy x360 makes it a little more comfortable to carry in your hands due to its traditional shape, so this may help it from slipping out of your hands while carrying it around. But honestly it feels like splitting hairs, they are both well assembled laptops.
As I open the lid on each of these laptops I am able to do so with one hand. The hinges are smooth and strong. There is only a slight bit of screen flex on the HP Envy x360 and the Spectre x360. They both have VERY similar screen hinge configuration to operate the full articulating screen.
Speaking of both screens open to 360 degrees with ease. And the Pen capabilities are excellent on both. I did a lot of tests on each of these laptops masking out thumbnails and they both shared the same responsive touch sensitivity with the pen. Either one will make a great pick for on-the-go digital artists, designers, or photo editors.
Where we are going to see some of the main differences is in the performance, which is coming up later in the video, so hang on for that.
Regarding the Pen: do note that the HP Store includes the pen with the purchase of the laptop, and you can check those product listings by clicking the affiliate links below. But if you don’t purchase on the HP store make sure you verify the listing you’re purchasing through to ensure the pen is included. Sometimes they don’t include the pen. Just double check before ordering.
How noisy are these fans and how well do they cool the laptop during the benchmark tests coming up later in the video?
Concerning the on the go capability of these two laptops the:
HP Spectre x360 weighs in at 4.23 Lbs at a thickness of 0.79 inches
Where as the HP Envy x360 weighs in at 4.2 Lbs at a thickness of 0.74 inches
Concerning battery life the
The HP Spectre x360 will get roughly 10 Hours Web browsing / 8 hours Design and Video Editing out of its 72.9Wh battery.
Whereas the HP Envy x360 will get roughly 6 - 7 Hours Web browsing / 4 - 5 hours Design and Video Editing with its 51Wh battery
If you’re looking for a laptop that has classic styling, create pen capabilities with an articulating screen, excellent performance in Adobe’s design suite, plus it gives you some solid 1080p video editing capabilities, and light 4k, all packed inside a well-built aluminum chassis then I would consider the HP Envy x360.
However if you want a gorgeous regal laptop with a deep gray finish and gold beveled edges, performing slightly better in Adobe’s design suite, but I will warn you against video editing on this specific spec’d model, but you do have excellent color gamut range and solid pen sensitivity and full articulating screen, then I would snag the HP Spectre x360.

Thanks for the comparison. For my needs I'll go with the Spectre because I'm more graphics focused than video. My plans would be to focus most of my video editing on a desktop, with the laptop for occasional video editing on the road. I expect most of my on-the-go work would be graphics focused, which the Spectre is better for. Plus, the better battery and the aesthetics are right up my alley.

First... excellent video! I just discovered your channel and quickly becoming addicted! The 15" envy x360 comes with 3 display options, 250 but, 400 nit and 400 nit with 4K. You reviewed the worst model 250 nit of the bunch. What are the sRGB and Adobe RGB for the other two 400 nit options? I really want the 400 nit non 4k model and have lost my mind trying to find color gamut specs. PLEASE help!

I had a Dell, than an HP. Tech support better with HP. Both laptops had many issues. They ALL have issues. I'm using a MacBook Pro 16" to type this and it overheats and the sound cuts in and out. I'm shopping for a PC actually. Don't trust hinges on Envy, some people say Envy has the BEST thermal system, others Spectre. Who can you trust.

HP has cool model definitions in his naming offering! Been the owners of Envy and Spectre is such a big responsibility and requires their employees to maintain those concepts (more effort compared to maintaining a single name such as MacOS). For a person to literally purchase and own an Envy is tricky.

You said at 3:05 - 3:12 that both work with sensitivity. May I know the model and brand you used for the x360 envy please? @@123mubbu It's great it's an Intel but it works just how I'd expect it to. Make sure to get the 400 nit brightness otherwise it's going to be very bad in areas with a lot of light.

Thermal chart is not comprehensive because you can have Envy with i7-1260P that is 4 P-Core and 28W rating, and i7-12700H that is 6 p-Core and 48W so the fan noise will be way different on "same" laptop just because of different CPU

The Envy is cheaply built. I've owned two and they both ended up breaking in the first 4-5 months of owning it. The bottom right corner of the screen slowly pops out due to the flex. DO NOT GET !!

Exactly what happened with my envy 13. It wasn't even a 360, just had a touch panel. The bottom left corner on the screen just popped while opening causing the whole screen to diagonally crack. Had to give up on it just after a little over a year owning it. Was heck lot of to get the screen replaced so I ended up getting the spectre 16. Hopefully this one doesn't cause me trouble.

@@Mus-Doc it has the same issue. Not only that but for what it is, it's not worth the price as all those fractures in one small thing Will just fry the machine sooner. Tbh it's just not worth it imo, I have tried it out but ok you're asking the other commenter. I got a Asus machine and I like it. I use it for uni (I do computer science so it's used a lot) as well as graphic design (video and image work -animation).
