Thank you for the instructional video. I wanted about 13.7 V for car programming so I used a 22K for OVP1 and 33K for both OVP2 and Output. Gave me a range of 13.5 to 14.0 volts adjusting VR600 (4th pot from the left).

I was able to get this working. For those asking questions about lifting pins. No, you do not need to lift any pins. Just be careful and make sure you get things soldered in correctly. I had to go back over my solder joints as one was causing the fans to run high and not power on. Once I re-checked all joints. It powered on and is adjustable up to 14.68v+. Thanks for the fine work and sharing this info.

hi, thanks for the vid. for pin3 on lm939A and the output did you lift the pins on the ic to connect to them or just leave them in circuit and tag on the back. i don't see you lift them but in the pic they look lifted. thanks

I soldered both 22k resistors and 12k to pin 19. However, the power supply still has a 12.23v on the output, and when pin 19 is connected to 12k to ground, it will not power on? Any idea on why? I checked and double-checked all my soldering points.

Hi, thanks for your time and effort detailing this mod. Have done it successfully and getting 14.5V as expected. I'm driving a small PA with only 7A load dropping to zero (or a few mA) when PA switched off and PSU occasionally trips when load is removed - I'm guessing its OVP kicking in - what do you think? Any ideas welcome. TIA.

Could someone provide some more detailed description of the modifications? Exactly what should be connected to what, and what should be disconnected at 6:24? For example, for OVP2 P3 of LM393A should be disconnected from the board _and_ connected to GND through a 22K resistor, or it should be left connected to the board _and_ connected to GND through the 22K resistor. Also, the other end should be connected to the rightmost via of those five neighbors or the two rightmost vias should be melted together? Other question: at 5:14 for raising the voltage to 14.48 where should I connect the lower end of the 22K resistor? At 6:53 where should I connect the two pins of the resistor and what is the resistance value? Is this connection needed for OVP1? I have problems interpreting the pictures and some implementation details would be welcome.

I went with a 1/4W resistor. The blue wire is hooked up to pin 19 of the MCU (PIC16F887) or connected to the resistor marked as 56B.

Mine was working with 14,4V So i used hot glue, that my soldered wires dont move. Then i reassembled it and it does not work anymore. Then i removed everything i soldered in but it that does not help. I measured with a oscilloscope, and the voltage rises up to about 10V and then it shuts down again Do you have a clue, what could be wrong? Thanks

I suspect resistor contact issues, carefully inspect the components around the soldered area. Check for loose or damaged components. If there are any components that were moved during the reassembly, make sure they are properly seated and secured. Ensure that the resistor pins are correctly connected, and check for any issues with the solder joints. Re-examine the resistors you soldered to see if there are cold solder joints or short circuits.

I cant get the power supply to provide voltage after installing the resistors. I didnt have a 12k resistor for OVP1 so i put in a 15k in parallel eith the 3.74k resistor. Should it work with the 15k? Also, when OVP kicks in i have to wait over night after removing the resistors to check if the power supply is still operative. If i unplug the power supply wait a few minutes OVP is still active when plugged back in. Is there a way to retest more quickly after a change in resistance is made?

The range from 12k to 17k is acceptable. This range is influenced by the trimmer settings. Connecting a 12V lamp to the 12V standby output can more quickly drain the energy. My resistor settings might need improvement. If you find a better solution, please report it here. @@taoli1239I ended up replacing the ovp1 3.74k resistor with a 3k resistor because I lifted the pad. I stuck with the 22k resistor for ovp2 like you have shown in the video. For the output I put a 33k ohm resistor in parallel with R110, the 5k1 resistor, leading to pin 3 of the 2N7002 mosfet. This gave me 13.4 to 14v range using the varistor. Perfect for vehicle programming. A few notes. I thought that if the LED in the back of the power supply did not turn on that the power supply was not putting out voltage. This is wrong. Eventually found out that I get power even if the LED isn't on. The bulb from pin 37 to ground was very helpful to drain the power supply and reset the ovp. Thank you for the instructive video, helpful wiring diagram on your github, and the response to get me up and going. It's very much appreciated.

you replaced the "56B" resistor from OVP1 to a 3K resistor? Thats it for OVP1 or did you also use the 12k (or 15K) resistor for OVP1 as shown in the video? I dont understand the part with the 33k ohm resistor in Parallel with r110?! For the output voltage you only connect a 33k ohm resistor in parallel with the r110 5k1 resistor? thats it for the output voltage level? Did you left out the solution in the video with the 22k resistor for the output voltage? Which varistor do you turn to varify the voltage between 13.4 and 14v? The second one count from the right side?

@@TheHunter0077 I made a mistake on OVP1 by damaging the resistor. That is why I used a 3k instead of the 12k they suggest in this video. So yes, I replaced the 56B resister and used a 3k. Either method should work. Their method just puts two resistors in parallel. Use this diagram to see what I mean by putting a 33k ohm resistor in parallel with R110. I turn the varistor closest to r110 to adjust the voltage. It's been a while, but i think its the 3rd one counting from left to right. It's the one closest to the 22k resistor they install.

Great info.....i see one end of your resistor from the MCU seems like it's soldered on to a blue wire, did you use the wire to attach to pin 19 on that square IC ?.......i find it hardly got any room to solder anything there

I have modded the exact same psu following your steps. Works fine for around 2-3 mins (30-40A 14v) and then psu enter in failsafe mode. Fan runs very slow always and led doesnt light up. Any hints please? Thank you!

Test the PSU in its original, unmodified state to see if it works under the same load conditions. The OVP1 might be sensitive and triggering UVP(Under Voltage Protection), so try adjusting the resistor for OVP1 to achieve a voltage division close to the original, around 1.94V(3.74/(3.74+20)*12.3). After your modifications, the new voltage division is roughly 1.53V (V_1 = R/(R+20)*14, R = 12*3.74/(12+3.74)). Consider adding a larger resistor in parallel, maybe around 22K(V_1=R/(R+20)*14=1.93V, R=22*3.74/(22+3.74)), to address this. This might help prevent the failsafe mode from kicking in.

Hello Tao Li. There is a very interesting power supply HSTNS-PD44, it has an 80+Titanium certificate. This is a very efficient power supply with minimal audio noise and radio noise. But I could not convert it to 14 volts to power radio equipment. Can you help?
