I still have mine but I upgraded the ram and the HD to a 2tb ssd running Windows 10 working for what I need it for,but for some reason my volume slide isn't working. Very good video.😀

I own a dv7 1105eg and I keep having problems with it for about a week or so,since I dropped it with the charger still in it.I could replace the charger,as it was clearly affected by the fall,but another possibility would be to replace the charging port from the inside,which requires more work. In the end,it's a very good laptop for my online school,and to make power point projects&other basic stuff...

Just got this from my daughter. It was older and not used any longer so that’s why I have it. Anyway, I just Watched your video and it’s fully charged. When I open and power it up, everything lights up like it’s working except for the monitor. Pitch Black. It was kept in its original packaging instructions included, but doesn’t even mention the monitor. Is there a separate power button for the monitor? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mary

I had Mine with back light keyboard and the subwofer... Man the Sound was fucking awesome, still for 2day. But Got It was a pain in he asa with overheating

I was reluctant to stop using mine after 8 years, but the fan was loud and I needed faster USB ports. Got an Asus N6 and just retired it.

These, as well as their prior generation DV9000 models did have overheating problems, but my unit, no. I never pushed it enough to the point where it did get that hot. And I also made sure to clean out the cooling vent with compressed air to make sure it was not plugged up.

wow great video !! i have mine but ,i have problems booting it up , it will just boot up 1 of every 4 times its started, i have tried many os, and all run , but if anyone has a path to find what is the reason of the failing start will be awesome

@@jwoolery99 i have an hp pavillion dv7-1130us that turns on but the screen wont come on and it gives me a 4 blink error code and the dvd drive causes the motherboard to short out and i have to put pressure on the laptop for it to work. Do you think it's a dead cmos battery that's causing the screen to not come on?

I believe only dual cores are supported. Technically you could get a faster Turion 64 X2 Ultra ZM-86 or ZM-87 and those would work, but it’s barely an uplift in performance that’s worth paying for anymore.

@@jwoolery99 He was probably thinking of the Core2 Duo/9600M GT variant, like the dv7-1080es I have. AFAIK they unfortunately don't support quads (and adequate cooling to start off with.). The best spot I know for those was a T9400 + 9600M GT. Mine runs a P8400 + 9600M GT, 4GB of RAM, an adapted Atheros AR5B225 WLAN card (I installed a No WhiteList (NWL) BIOS on mine), a 120GB Crucial SSD from the same age as the dv7 itself plus what I remember being a 640GB Hitachi HDD, if I'm not mistaken. Love it, as well as the refresh variant (dv7-2135eo) which runs a HD4650 in place of the 9600M GT, and has a 16:9 screen ratio. Oh, and a nice black case. That one also has a No-Whitelist BIOS and chances are I might have dropped a Centrino-N 100 in place of the 5100AGN it originally had. Both run 10 by the way. I also have the discrete AMD variant - it's a total nightmare unless you copper shim it. It does feature a HD3470 as discrete GPU, and mine has shipped with an Athlon X2 instead of your Turion. The weak points on those are the atrocious thermal pads which in turn cook the main chipset (AMD RS780M I think - it's a variation of the RS780 nonetheless). dv5s aren't too far apart either, although those do have a slightly better designed cooling unlike the dv7. The AMD version (in my case, dv5-1026eo) does have its GPU heatsink bolted down through the case (whereas the AMD based dv7-1000 relies on using a sponge attached to the heatsink, ew.), and same goes for the Intel version of the dv5 (dv5-1131en in my case) - lower end versions use 9200M GS, higher end use 9600M GT like the dv7. I do have to give them credit somewhat as they usually get the cooling right on Intels, rather than AMDs - about every instance of HP I had to deal with, the Intels had direct heatsink contact, while AMDs used the god forsaken thermal pads. This goes as far as 2nd gen Core i3s and Radeon APUs, and it's literally mind-boggling how they almost deliberately sabotaged every AMD design they had.

yes, it will work with an SSD. had one did it. the laptop eventually died (integrated graphics) went. I had windows 10 on mine. You may have to go into disk management and format the SSD there. let me know how it works out.
