i bought this calculator only to return it, it’s a good investment especially for someone doing complex mathematics but one thing i wish it could have had is a game boy or game boy color emulator

The Prime is certainly very different to every other HP calculator. The hardware is very powerful so I wonder if also selling to the education market has restricted the functionality too much. It's not the first HP calculator that I would pickup for a quick calculation/computation.

Very nice! - we need to access HOME and CAS functions and variables - doable? This would be sort of a dream come true, something I always wanted, standard FORTH as the basement operating environment. What about running directly instead of via Python?

Thanks 😊. I don't use CAS so could you give me a simple example of something you would want to do and how you would do it now and I'll have a look (no promises 🙃). There are many bugs in the Prime Python implementation making some things difficult, and requiring workarounds, and some things not possible. The FORTH implementation is in Python so to remove the Python requirement FORTH would need to be ported to PPL (if someone hasn't done this already).

Are the crashing issues resolved on the new update?

I'm running version 2.1.14603 on my physical Prime G2 which includes Python support. The current version is 2.14730 which lists fixes for 4 different crashing issues. I didn't update my physical Prime as there were no fixes for what I typically use and some users reported issues updating (although it seems to be mostly related to version C hardware, the G2 is version D hardware). I have updated my virtual Prime (and Connectivity Kit) and it does crash regularly but this may be a virtual only issue. Forth is like Polio. Just when you think that it has been eradicated, it pops up in the unlikeliest of places. Just say no, kids... And mixing Forth with Python? Pure evil. :)

Haha 😂. Forth does appear to be available on everything you can imagine - old and new. I was actually expecting to receive more comments about implementing Forth in Python 😈. The implementation is no where near compliant to a standard but was an easier option than using Prime Programming Language (PPL).
