6 years later, this video saved another printer from the trash. Jiggled the print head while holding the door switch down, and away she went good as new, an easter miracle, it has arisen! lol thanks best youtube tip ever!

I had the same oxc4eb827f message. After 15 minutes of trying the steps you indicated with no luck (and calling HP they wanted $89.99 to assist me), I was certain I'd need to buy another printer. But then I realized, if I'm going to throw this one out - may as well try it one more time but this time with force and viola I got it to work! 1) Fired up the power button with the lid button pushed down as you indicated. 2) Keeping the button pushed down, pulled and jiggled on the cartridge so hard I thought I was going to break it. 3) To my surprise, I received a new error message "Indicated cartridges are not for this printer (or something close to this). 4) Smile : ) we're on to something here 5) repeated steps 1 and 2 above 6) Another error message (forgot but it was about a paper jam) 7) Fired it up again and the cartridges moved over so I could pull them out, yay!!! 8) Removed the cartridges, powered off, powered on and now I'm printing. Thank you!

Outstanding!. I was about to toss this printer. Stumbled upon your video and it actually helped to relieve a few issues as well as the common code oxc4eb827f. Cannot thank you enough. The published "troubleshooting" by HP did not work.

This might help a lot of people here because it did help me! I started off with what this video asks us to do. It worked for Falconer but not for all of us. Had almost given up then I did a couple of things - took out the cartridge from the pink tray (because that was accessible almost, had to use some force). If the cartridge won't come out leave it. Next step is more important. Pull out the cover for the paper jam area. Boom my cartridges started moving and the error message was gone. You can see the cover at 1:19 minutes into the video. Two gray levers that you can pull inwards and lift up. As soon as I put it back the printer was back to normal. Hope this helps.

had the same issue. tried your advice but it did not work. if you follow the rail that the cartridge rides on to the left you will see a small white gear trying move. i continued to move the cartridge and moved the gear at the same time and it now works. hour and a half searching before i came across your post. cheapest/simplest fix i have come ever across. thanks

A huge thank you! And I found this works if you simply switch the printer off, then back on, but don't wait till the error code appears on the screen, just lift the lid, press the button and jiggle the cartridge carriage straight away.

I thought this solution seemed barbaric... until it worked. In summary: press down the small black button (the very loose one), while simultaneously jiggling the ink cartridge back and forth a few times. Turn the printer off and back on and it should be working.

Last time I easily managed to fix this problem on an HP 3640 but very unfortunately by using same procedure on HP 4645 have failed. I don't what else I should try cause so far it's been a week using so many methods trynna fix the same issue. I'm feeling like giving up now. Help please!

You saved the day for me bud. I went to the useless HP Troubleshooting page and spent an hour horsing around with the power cord and putting in and taking out the print cartridges. Yeah, as Patty's 8 Step process was pretty much the solution, it didn't work for me but I ended up giving it a good hit and it freed up the cartridge. Dont be afraid to give it muscle

Hello there from the year 2020! Thank you for this video, as I own an HP Envy 4500 and had the same error code appear with the ink cartridges also getting stuck. I used your suggested method of holding the button inside while jiggling the print head and it worked! The printer just started functioning normally from there. Thank you!

The best solution with a HIT or DROP is enough, like you, try to correct as much technical as possible and do not get any results, a wise advice from the old school, give a blow or drop it, after having done it, it worked !!! , the problem disappeared, without OXCAEB827F code, I could copy and scan. This problem arose when changing the ink cartridge, after having done it, it did not copy, it did not scan but if it printed, after the "wise advice" of HP, none solved the problem, before losing patience, look in KZbin for the solution and the least orthodox turned out to be the most practical and effective, thank you for your advice.

As I was looking for solutions for my Envy 4500, I read your comment here and thought it might have been a joke. However, after trying everything else I found online without any luck, I took my printer into my garage, plugged it in and from about a foot off the floor, I dropped it on the concrete. Twice. To my shock and surprise, the damn thing suddenly started working! Now it prints, copies and scans just fine. Thanks for communicating your experience.

Thanks a ton, today - when it was really needed, my printer failed and had multiple errors from incompatible cartridge, paper jam, would not power off, to oxc err. Even after buying new cartridge it did not .... A huge thank you to you, i could make the color work after 10 attempts and managed to take the critical print outs.

I pulled cartridges , restarted, nothing, then I read some comments, I ended up moving the printer head/cartridges back and forth and slammed them into the side, and it finally started working. Crazy

This didn't work, until I literally slammed my computer on the ground sideways while holding down the button, cartridge side to the ground, twice. Then it started working again (but bent the scanner cover out of shape). Probably not the best idea unless you're ready to give up on the printer and buy a new one if it fails, but it worked for me.

Thanks that worked,,, but now it is stuck on alignment!!! Changing the ink on this printer is a nightmare for every single ink cartridge I have to put in it, I think the only way to fix this printer; Envy 4500 Series, is to smash the the thing to bits!!! This is the last ink cartridge I am buying for this printer and possibly it is the last HP printer I will be buying too. Sorry for the rant, I am just so frustrated.

Kept getting different error codes on mine. I called hp for tech support and they told me it was dead. Hung up the phone and plugged it in and it worked go figure! I say don’t trash it just keep plunging and unplugging it until it works. Try different locations

Error code could be the ink cartridges cant move due to a small tab next too and underneath the color cartridge. You just have to push that tab down for error code to clear and printer to work properly again. Hope this helps someone.

Al D mine is flitting between the error code and telling me it is printing an alignment page and just getting stuck and telling me to put paper in the tray. Did yours do this?
