hello my friend im trying to play doctor who the edge of time using the reverb g2 controllers the problem i want to use the joysticks to move around without having to click it and move in direction at the same time so how do i bind the joystick with out the click button. and when i use the left joystick to turn it dosent stop turning i want to use it for snap turning.

never needed that. but around christmas beat saber changed its layout and now the A and B button pause the game. which is entirely unplayable for me. however, after setting custom bindings in steam, they dont work in the game afterwards. also i cannot conjure the steam overlay in beatsaber. no button whatsoever does the trick 🤦‍♂ any idea of how to get steam overlay back into beatsaber?

Thanks for the video, would really love some help with the deeper layer in editing bindings though. Selecting community bindings is great if one exists but when it doesn't things become very complicated. Creating your own binding is extremely confusing and complex... Emulated trackpad...joystick axis etc etc. that's the bit that I think everyone is struggling with (me included!)

Very much so, there is a few games that my wife and i have tried to play that have no community bindings, popular puzzle ones. trying to figure it out leads to frustration and putting the headset away for many days in disgust:)

Totally agree. I wish someone would go more in depth on how to actually create your own bindings. I've tried on multiple different games but failed to get either the joystick or grip button to work. Other buttons bind just fine

Any progress with this? I just set up my G2 tonight and cannot figure out how to get the joysticks to properly register in games. I've tried disabling the 'track pad emulator'.

I need help. my hp reverd controller is not pairing with bluetooth in the app for hp revard I always click on manual pairing but it doesn't connect then I look at the bluetooth the two control is connected, then I look at the program is not paired. i don't know but what to do i bought today but i can't make it work

Have u tried different bindings, and or check the current bindings u have activated? sometimes if u have the same binding name as the one in a list, then it won't show up as different in ur interface.

but my controllers have like switched sides?? like left hand is right hand and right hand is left hand. And it buggs out in the Mixed reality portal home i cant sometimes teleport and then sometimes i can? What is going on?

now this is bloody confusing. do you need to do all these jumps from vma to steam and back always? or you are showing it only as an example? for me if i go from game to wma, most of the time game (any game) crashes and i need to load it again. so i try to go from vma to steam and never touch win home button... needless to say i am unable to make any controller bindongs, therefore halve of my steem / oculus library is wasted and unplayable on g2..

Was an example, as long as you go through the SteamVR app in the Windows Mixed Reality you're good.

@@xressentials Did you ever find an answer? I was SO, SO, SO, confused about what was appearing on my screen versus what Skyrim with mods was doing. Just seeing the A button work at least got me SOME of the way there. I'm sure I'd eventually quit looking at what the screen said to hit and just hit the right button, but I'm just starting out and I end up hitting every single button multiple times (because some put me in a menu) until it does what I'm trying to do. This would REALLY help!

hmmm, when ever I click "choose another", nothing happens. I can never get to that other screen so I have been unable to choose community bindings. Trying to play Skyrim and Fallout 4 but the bindings are all whacked, especially Fallout 4. I also wish there was a chart somewhere explaining what the bindings are for an individual game instead of mashing buttons to see what they do - specifically thinking of skyrim and Fallout. Also when I go to that screen to change the height by placing a controller on the floor and press fix floor height, nothing happens. I can manually change the floor height, so thats not a problem.

The controls work fine with an unmodded version of FO4 VR, but when I run FO4 VR with the essentials mod pack from wabbajack, it breaks. I am still playing with it. I now have access to the community bindings (computers just being computers I guess), so I have started experimenting with different bindings. I am really hoping to get it figured out since a modded FO4 looks like it will be a real fun time waster (I run a business from home, so I really don't need any time wasters :( ). I haven't played around yet with creating my own bindings, that may be a next step. I also need to look more closely at the mods of the FO4 mod pack and see which one is breaking the bindings.

Do you use the Steam Mixed Reality Portal downloaded from Steam or the one that Microsoft provided with the OS? Is there a difference?

You need to download the one from Steam to make SteamVR experiences work.

@@xressentials Thanks. Once I started the Steam WMR portal, I found the Steam VR App and launched it, this solved my G2 controller problems in Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

He said to open Steam and select VR then later says to make sure you are in Steam NOT Steam VR while he still has VR selected. Later he says "We have these 2 options, now select 'that'". Select what!? I have NO Idea what he is doing.

It took me a few times watching the video to get what you were saying between tip 1 and 2. What I was expecting for tip 3, was an ACTUAL example of remapping the controller buttons. Where is the option in SteamVR that lets you personally reassign the buttons like you can do in any game that uses controllers, or joysticks... a menu of all the game functions, where you can click a function to change it, press the desired button and it's reassigned?

Click on edit this binding after you inside custom binding sections 👍 maybe I’ll do a follow up video, it seemed pretty straight forward hence not filming that part.

@@xressentials I've never had to change bindings before, as the Rift S settings worked just fine in SkyrimVR... but now I have the HP Reverb G2. Now, if after clicking where you said, it brings up the screen in 06:32, that's what I'm stumped on. That is where I would have expected to see a drop down menu or something for each button, where I can select the button then assign the game functions to it, like after selecting right grip, assign it to "grab," left grip to "holster," B button to "favorites," and so on, like remapping keys on a keyboard. But, like I said... I'm stumped. :(

No matter what I do I can't get the game to ever tell me I can use A to pick up items. I used task manager to close all related software, then started steam vr, then opened the game through the desktop steam app, but no matter what it never says I can use the A button to pick up items. Using community bindings doesn't even help or change anything :( it's getting a little disheartening, i really just want to play Skyrim...

Just a personal note here and perhaps for anyone else that might have answers or information or need I'm looking for a way to disable or rebind the windows button on the Windows mixed reality controllers as well as configuring button. Also sorry if any of this is unintelligible I'm a truck driver and I can't actually look at my device or anything like that so pardon the grammar terror and autocorrect silliness

For the record. Also, I made a custom control layout for the motion controllers in the steamVR controller deal, rebinding some stuff to the sticks, like l/r roll, targeting and throttle, but unfortunately it seems you can't alter the flight stick controls governing pitch and yaw as those are bound to the virtual flight stick in NMS... This is a work in progress and I'll be back if I can remember too update this thread. 👍

@@xressentials I actually fixed it by turning on “Pretend to be Oculus Touch Controllers” in Legacy Options, then activated the latest community controls that showed in your video and boom! Works great! Thanks for leading me down the path to success!

im really out of my mind, this stupid headset has so many software issues. right now the windows buttons have randomly stopped owrking. i was playing a new VR game, had some issues. restarted and boom, no more windows button. which is basically what you need for everything. after removing everything and reinstalling the mixed reality portal i went through the setup again and then it asks ''press the windows button to go somewhere cool'' and then nothing. cant click the button. im going top refund this soon.
