I use rechargeable AA batteries for my Rift S controllers. When they lose charge, I switch them out with charged ones, and then put the depleted ones in their charger. I really enjoy using my Rift S. Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful and informative. I hope that you have a wonderful existence!

Will it run nicely with a 1660 ti laptop 20gb ram and 10300 I 5? Do you recommend it as compared to reverb?

11:39 It's actually very easy to remove the speakers. Inside the hinge point (where the speaker arm meets the headband) there are two tiny metal contact points that carry the audio signal, meaning there is no wiring connected to the speaker arm. You simply remove a single screw on the inner side of the headband and the speaker comes right off.
@MusicFreak5483 жыл бұрын
Indeed this is true! It's so easily removeable for the speakers so you can use headphones on your head if you like if you don't wanna use the speakers on the G2.

Love my Reverb G2. I'm using the 3D printed gasket from Danol on Etsy, with a 6mm Vive pad - these greatly improve both comfort and field of view. It's amazing, and I constantly catch myself saying "wow". I tried the original Vive when it came out, and also owned a Samsung Odyssey original version, but sold it on because the clarity just wasn't there. I remember thinking everything about the odyssey was great apart from the resolution. With the G2, you can just see things, no screen door, and it's just full on immersion :D

Having owned both the Rift S and Reverb G2 and I gotta say the tracking on the Rift S was far superior to the G2, while the comfort and adjustability is better on the G2, but not enough to make up for its tracking issues. As I play mainly seated games (racing and flying) the tracking isn't important so I still prefer the G2, however if I was still hardcore into beat saber or shooting games I would concider the G2 to be a downgrade from the Rift S in terms of general usability.

would you recommend the G2 for full simracing then?

Totally, the only weak parts are the tracking and controllers, which you don't even need for sim racing.

Thanks. I have the rift s and was just not quite convinced to upgrade. I play mixed games. Anything racing, flying, FPS, sports and I love the idea of having sharper graphics,......but, it's just the tracking and size of the controller's that put me off. Being honest, coming from the psvr that I still own, the clarity is better on the rift s, but I'm perfectly happy with both as is. Until I see a far better headset that has better controller with inside out tracking with great visuals, I'll just wait. 😁👌

I bought a Rift S on 17 FEB 21. It worked flawlessly until Oculus released their software update. Three dots of death. Four unsuccessful hours on the chat with Oculus CS. Excuses ranged from incompatible CPUs (then why has it worked up to now?) to low power on USB 3.1 ports (they're powered directly from my 1100W PSU). It is now boxed up ready to be collected by the courier for return. Thankful for 30 day return policies! :)

I'm a bit disappointed in my G2. It has way higher resolution than my Rift S but the clarity jump isn't what I was expecting. The Rift S looks a bit worse but not by much. The G2 audio is way better but the tracking is way better on my Rift and it is more comfortable..

Thanks for pointing this out. Have you tried supersampling in the Rift-S? I wonder if that makes it almost as good as the image in the G2... I am currently supersampling at 1.4 and the image clarity has improved, texts read sharper and crisper. I really like it.
@edwardenigma19292 жыл бұрын
Bought one, returned 2 days later. Sweet spot the size of a half dollar, all text outside that are very blurry. Rift S more consistent in clarity across the screen. Vibration on controllers is loud and feels cheap not good at all. Bit of pressure point on my temple's not to bad but Rift S much more comfort. The cable is thick and very grippy so will pull on you. When you first start up a lot of ghosting effects until it heats up, and screen door until it warms up. 10 mins or so then gone. If you want to surf the web you can not scroll with the controllers. You will have to use a mouse as well. Wanna type in search bar, your gonna need to lift up headset and use physical keyboard. Tried playing Pavlov you can not use 2 hands on weapons. Right hand will grip but left hand does not grip the weapon. So I'm guessing custom mapping is needed. Have heard this is the case on many other games. Cant hit anything with only 1 hand on a machinegun. God rays are very noticeable on the G2 V2, my Rift S never really noticed them. I purchased on sale for 499 but still not worth that. maybe $350. In games the sweet spot is not as bad, you really don't see it much but, on anything else you can only read 2 words and then left and right of those 2 words are blurry and the next ones very blurry. I wanted to love this but I'm going back to Rift S. Controllers hit when reloading weapons. I really believe the Rift S or Quest 2 are much better at software, easy of use, you can just play and even the screens have much bigger sweet spot. I think if you are sim racing its a great choice the sweet spot not as bad. Sim flying your gonna have to turn your head a lot to see the gauges clearly. I'd wait. The only thing it has going for it is sound and the very small sweet spot. Just my experience. Imma keep my rift s until something better comes along.

I did get the Rift S before a FB account was required. A great headset. My oculus account is valid till Jan 2023. I can enjoy the headset till then. I will move on to a different brand because I do not agree with FB's term and conditions therefore, I won't be able to use the Rift S anymore. As a consequence, I am loosing the money I had spent on the games I had purchased :( I didn't realize they could just take my money, then, blackmail me into accepting new rules. Oh well, too late for that.

I have a G2 and the tracking sucks.... i cant use it for pavlov or onward... because it loses tracking once it leaves the camera sensors’s FOV. for DCS and MFS2020 the G2 is perfect. Also the sweet spot for the G2 is smaller than a rift s..

So what im reading from the comments for the tracking, as I mostly play best saber. I'd like a G3 that would do a slanted front tracking just like Rift S so that it tracks me grabbing shit from my weist

@@matt79hz the headset itself is inconvenient for the issues like compatibility with games, controllers and tracking, I prefer the Oculus Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop for running PCVR games wirelessly, so much easier and more convenient, I gave up on the Reverb G2 and the Valve Index, I just prefer a wireless gaming experience and the Quest 2 works well with everything and is comfortable to wear with the VR Cover leather facial interface and the Elite Strap with added earphones, the G2 and Index are just not worth the trouble in my opinion, it was just money I wasted for nothing purchasing those 2 headsets because I fell for the hype and reviews online, I'll only stick with standalone Oculus headsets for everything from now on, so much better

I'd say the Reverb G2 except for the fact that the controllers suck, which is why I use the Valve Index controllers with my Reverb G2. Can't recommend all of that for $500 though. At $500 the Oculus Quest 2 is probably your best bet, which has better controllers than Rift S or Reverb G2. You can run it wirelessly (with WiFi 6 router) or through link cable from your PC. (I own all of these so I'm speaking from personal experience)

@Rithman3 жыл бұрын
Rift S is actually better for me. Quests video compression makes everything blurry even with SS on 150%. Tracking and sweetspot on G2 is awful. Screens on G2 goes black when the sound is too loud for them (yes. sound disables screen). Not to mention my G2 came with the faulty cable and I was seraching for the new one for 3 months (including HP RMA which didn't help at the end). So I was forced to get back on Rift S. Now I have Index and it is superb. Waiting for HTC USB dongles to connect knuckles to G2, maybe that will redeem G2 for me a bit, but sweetspot still will be crap.
@Deankenny213 жыл бұрын
Rift S is an amazing buy in 2021 vs Quest 2 if you are a PCVR gamer, I'm a sim racer and bought a Quest 2, but unfortunately compression just doesn't allow for a good experience no matter how much bitrate I push through it, it's still compressed and obviously so. Against RIFT S native natural display with zero compression.

Yeah the Rift S is way better for PcGaming. My quest has so many issues with the link and wifi/virtual desktop. Can’t play any steam be games without lowering the graphics and shit. Not worth it if you plan to play from Pc

My neck hurts if I play with the quest for more than one hour. With the rift s I can play for hours in games like beat saber. For PC I prefer it. But for more casual use quest is really great.
@davecarsley87733 жыл бұрын
Nah. It's not the same. I have both. The Quest 2 is absolutely amazing for standalone and I HIGHLY recommend it. But the video quality sucks badly for PCVR. Whether you use a link cable, virtual desktop, or Airlink, it looks like compressed garbage. I still use my Rift S every day for PCVR. And I'd never suggest anyone buy a Quest 2 over a Rift S *IF* your primary objective is playing PCVR.
