I found your page because I have this problem right now. When you said hold the power and esc button for 15 seconds I tried it and it worked. The esc button is right under the power button, you were looking in the wrong place. Hope this helps you because it helped me. Thanks and God luck.

I had the same problem and I fixed it. It was a dead laptop, on/off switch not turning the laptop on, power supply was good putting out 19.5 VDC. I tried the Ctrl+Alt +delete then the on/off switch a few times and it did not turn the laptop on. Finally, I pressed Ctrl +Alt (no delete) +on/off switch and it worked.😀😀

Pamella Gayle I know how to fix it. Keep the power light on all night (keep off charger) and in the morning it should be dead, and plug it in and wait for it to power back on

I have this problem, laptop hasn't been used over 5 hours since I purchased it for a kid. I held the off on button down for about 2 seconds and the laptop booted up. It gave me a screen starting an automatic repair. That failed and it gave me another screen with another screen to either ext or advanced repair. I clicked on advance repair and it gave me another screen with other options. Exit, try to repair again of exit to Windows 10. I clicked on exit to Windows 10 and the laptop booted up to log in screen. Logged in and the laptop is working. Have no idea what will happen when the laptop is shut down again and it's still on after a few days. So, I go to Dell and buy the kid a refurbished Dell laptop loaded with ram and HD. The Dell is blowing smoke by the HP. Paid a little more for the Dell and will never buy and HP again.

It is the WORST laptop I have owned. I should have returned it a week after I got it, but I was traveling. Nothing but trouble and I have only had it for a year. I wanted something inexpensive and light for travel. It constantly says the disk is full and yet I have no files, only a song playlist and some photos. I have a hp stream 14, it died and havent charged it cuz the cable broke so i just got a new one yesterday and tried charging it. Light turned on after like 5 minutes and it turned on but after trying to update something it just shut off completly and now the light on the side wont turn on either..
